I very much want to go to the cemetery. I live near Bournemouth and Southampton. Does anyone from this area drive there, who could give me a lift?

I was very fortunate to see Billy perform many time at the height of his career on the legendary Larry Parnes one-nighters. I never met him, but I did interview Heinz backstage.

Does anyone have a copy of Disc Magazine with Billy on tthe cover cutting his 21st birthday cake? I am in the background but I lost my copy years ago in a house move. If someone has a copy and could send me a scanned image I would be v.v. grateful. Thanks, Mags.

Billy like a few other artists was part of my youth, I occasionally sit down, blank out the rest of the world, put on one of his CD's
and try to remember the past, few memories remain but the magic of listening to that distinctive sound will never fade.

hi, everyone, I was at the concert when billy was discovered!!, what a night, we had marty wilde, vince eager, need i go on? you all have probably heard it all before, it was called rock and roll extravaganza, and it was fantastic, larry parnes came on stage and asked us if we minded listening to a lad from liverpool?well we only lived over the water in birkenhead, so, he was one of us, so, we yelled yes!!!!boy! when he sang the place rocked!!!!!!we were going wild!!!he sang 2 songs and we did'nt want him to go. but, there was a show to finish, and the other entertainers will tell you, it was so exciting i don't think they wanted to go.the john barry (seven plus four) played the music, jimmy tarbuck acted the goat but we loved his antics, a few weeks later, ron was introduced to the world as billy fury,we hung around outside waiting for the stars, and while marti got out the front somehow, vince eager was mobbed out the back!!! i reckon he did himself an injury getting away!!!!!!we never did see billy, he had the sense to get away early i reckon!!!! i heard about this site only yesterday, i shall visit more. bye now.pat d.

Many thanks for such an interesting site. Billy was my first heart throb, back in the early sixties, when I was about 13. I fell in love with his looks and his music and was lucky enough to see him perform live at a local Croydon cinema and he was magic. It was lovely to learn that he was as nice a person as I naively imagined he was in my dreams. He died on my birthday. Glad to hear there is going to be a film of his life story.

Just a quick message to say thanks to Harry. I've started my own Billy Fury website with the aid of Harry's advice, and some of his material. I'm a novice but I'm pleased with what I have managed so far. I won't put the address in this message, that isn't the reason I sent it, and besides it would look very out of place among such professional company, anyway enough rambling and once again thanks Harry, keep Billy's music alive for many years to come!

My name is Paul I am 49 and now live in Western Australia, but I was born and brought up in Wavertree Liverpool. I found this site from "curiosity"
Ron was my cousin, I recall he had a moped/ small motorbike and I had one of those tin pedal cars that you sit in. He would "push" me along the pavement outside my aunties house by driving the moped with the front wheel on the back of the tin sit in pedal car.He was areal tearaway then!
The small recording studio where he went on Kensigton was near where I lived and I recall it well, black painted letters (cut out of wood?) and white faded background! next door (or near to_ a fish and chip shop.
Many years late (around 1970??) I was in the "Sportsman" pub at the Gyratory in Central Liverpool. this pub had "amateur" singers on the microphone during Sunday Lunchtime and although most were good (as you expect from Liverpool!) He got up and did "Half way to paradise" just the one number......it brought the bloody house down,,,,,,,,christ he was brilliant.
The sad part was that very few knew who he was!

cutie but wanted to hear his music. I have never heard a Fury song

Thank you.

I saw Billy in Coventry in 1962. He was just about the sexiest thing I'd ever seen.
I was 18 years old, and I have never forgotten that show. It was the only time that I ever saw him. He was just about the best looking guy I had ever seen, with the voice of an angel. I followed his career with great interest, bought all of his records, and cried like a baby when he died....
I still go to see Marty Wilde, just to hear him talk about Billy and play a tribute to him.
God Bless you Billy, you will never be forgotten.

My partner toured with Billy Fury and the New Tornadoes in the late 1970's and has fond memories of those very special days. His name is Bob and he played guitar with the band and also sang. I am desperate to find memorabilia, especially photographs, from that tour, so if you were there and have any photos, fliers or posters or stories from that time please contact me.

Then And Now magazine. First published in 1981 independently by it's author Graham Gardner. This magazine has now become collectable by UK Rock'n'Roll fans for it's rare interviews, photographs and discographies (See index attached) The final copies held in store for over ten years are now being sold and primarily to those who will appreciate the contents the most, to fans of British Rock/Pop 50's and 60's fans. Price is £9.99 incl p&p ($20 US). PS I have always been a big Billy Fury fan, we met three times, I did a radio show with him in Reading, a late night impromtu thing with Mike Read and Stuart Colman (which I have on tape to this day, circa '81)for local radio. I knew Larry Parnes very well for a good fifteen years up until his death. I will be selling off all my FURY 45's in 2001 as I need to make space, condensing them to mini-disc/CD. Is there a CD of ALL his Parlophone sides, I have ALL 11 singles plus FURY and WARNER BROS. And finally, Larry P. gave me loads of pictures he took himself and had a publicist taken, can you identify the artist, picture is unmarked. Larry said Daryl Quist was a good friend of Billy's, whatever happened to him? LOVE the sight, I liked Billy very much, we had quite a chat on one occasion I went to Brecon to the farm on one great day , he was in his element. Regards, Graham PS-Just found another pic Larry gave me, you may have seen this,I love it,so atmospheric.

hey, I'm hip to Billy Fury. I saw him years
ago when I was an exchange student in Vilnius.
I spent a lot of time in London in those days.

Now, back in the states, I'm a pretty
well-known & successful performance
artist. I'mdoing a five-year long epic called
"Thinking of Ng." Mostly I just
think about this NetGirl who lives her
life openly via a Live cam.

When I stage public riffs
I often use a Billy Fury medley
as background. It seems to set
just the right tone. Audiences
often talk and reminisce afterwords
because it seems to strike a quite
emotional chord-- even amongst
a younger audience.

Hey everybody's retro

I am a 15 year old male, from Liverpool. At the age of 9 my mum took me to see The Sound Of Fury musical at the Liverpool Empire Theatre. And it blew me away.
At that age I was not in to anything, musically and generally. I was bullied
at school because I was overweight, and that led me into trouble. But Billy
Fury's music changed me, it gave me hope and interest.
His music was the first I listerned to and at that moment I decided I wanted to do the same.
I have been lucky enough to meet Albie Wycherley in the past, and have my picture with him put in to the Liverpool Echo (newspaper).
And I feel this site is a fitting tribute to Billy.

If there are people out there who would like to be email pals, please feel
free to email me.

for the Billy Fury film - The Sound Of Fury. Could you please let me know as I am also a actor.
