Bluebell Bugle

Hello from Bluebell Cottage, 2001/2

Another year nearly over and we will have been here almost four years!!  Where has all the time gone?  Work has slowed down now around the cottage, we have had a new roof and the windows had to be replaced too, ripe as pears and only 10 years old.  When they were removed we found that lots of the frames were second-hand!!

The look of the cottage has not changed at all, no-one noticed the windows till we pointed it out, they are plastic double glazed units too.  Sacrilege I hear some shout, but heck the place might be 350 years old but we have running water and electric's, central heating and telephones etc, so why not.  At least it keeps the place dry and warm.

We put an extra 17 rolls of insulation in the roof and 'loft' space over my office.  Most places there is nigh on 12" of glass fibre.  We are as warm as toast and our heating bill has dropped dramatically.

claimed hardy enough to resist our East wind when it blows.  Time will tell.

At the moment we have a Yucca in full flower by the 'pond', most impressive.

We have added to the 'Scilly' boat of course, as we have been back to the islands for yet another holiday, this year.
We did not visit in 2000, as you will no doubt know.  I was trying to sail there, a round trip of 800 miles, but the weather was so unkind we gave that one up I will try to add a link to my log later, so you can relive it if you like.  Was exiting at times!

We have still been busy outside, I have removed the trellis that Darian hated, though she had to admit it gave us privacy till the hedges grew.  I had made some steel hoops, that spike into the soil and lash together to make a good support for plants, without being very intrusive.  We have a hooped path to the summerhouse now, ending in a 'Millennium' feature, three flowering cherries trained into arches , that are covered in blossom in the spring.  The rest of the hoops on the path have a variety of climbers, some rather exotic, but all
