Becky Kelly's
earring revisited - Sue Hanson 1999

I was playing
with Becky
Kelly's
earring pattern last Christmas.
I changed the count, used split rings & found it was firmer by
doing a single ds chain between two of the clover rings. I still
worked with shuttle only, threading the beads onto it before starting -
but I left about a yard of thread as the ball thread (so to speak) and
worked it by finger tatting
Thread Shuttle
with 15 beads
Clover
Leave 1
yard tail &
use as a second shuttle by finger tatting
Ring A: 2 B 6
vsp 10 B 2 clr & RW
Ch: 1ds, RW
Ring B: 2 +B
(Ring A) 10 B 2 clr & RW
Ch: 1 RW
Split Ring C: 2
+B (Ring B) 10 // 2, +B (Ring A) 6 clr DNRW
Make a very
small mock picot
Split Ring D 6
// 4 clr make a very small mock picot
Bring 5 beads
from shuttle & thread the other end through - thus 2
threads going through the 5 beads - making it firmer. Beading
needle will do the job. :-)
Ring E (5 beads
onto ring) 4 B 2 <3B> 2 B 4 clr DNRW
When laying in
the three beads keep them flat & in line with the
core thread
Then work the
next 2 ds & form beads into a triangle
Bring the last
5 beads from shuttle & again thread the spare end
through to reinforce it
Ring F: 6 +
(Ring A) 4 clr
I tie a reef
knot & either (if I remember) I lay in magic threads
while working to hide the ends or I sew the ends over the heal of the
stitches - up & down. Or you could just tie, glue then
cut. Enjoy :-)))
