Reverse Beading Needle Tool - Sue Hanson © 2004 Revised May 2006
It's a tool originally from my BL days. Used to make sewings in Honiton Lace (too fine work to always get it right with a crochet hook!) It's a fine bendy bead needle that in poked point first into a handle. (Fix with PVA glue) Threaded with fine nylon/rayon thread. To use it poke it head first into the beads holding onto the thread ends. When the needle is full... Check the sizing. Discard the deformed (poor souls!) and then push the beads just a little up towards the head... this will make a loop of thread to which one poke the tatting thread through & holding onto the ends - transfer the beads onto the needle thread then onto the tatting thread. Voila lode the beads from one to the other... Especially handy when needing different colours or sizes in order for me tatting... And the smallest of beads can be added to the thicker threads. Does this make sense?
I use it for sewings I've forgot to make a picot for... Just poke between the appropriate double stitches at the position a picot should be... Make a loop & post the shuttle through... Pull back and there you go loop of the tatting thread right where you want it :-))
Also handy for taking the core thread back into the beginning at the base of the first ring. Saves deforming it with a crochet hook...
