Starting with a normal ring for the head with beads placed over long picots for the eyes
The body is finger tatted in “Pearl Tatting” with long picots thrown off at one side for legs

2 contrasting colours on 2 shuttles
2 “lopsided” beads for eyes added while working
Picot gauge 4 cm

2 yards of each colour wound onto shuttles each with 1-foot tail
Load beads onto Sh#1 (head colour)
Head main colour start approximately 1 foot from end
R: 5 --- 3 +B (LP) 3 --- 3 +B (LP) 5
BEFORE closing ring pass contrasting thread through ring clr
The pearl tatting is finger tatted with the knotted tails with the shuttle threads used alternatively
Sh#2 one normal ds (1,2) Rotate work up with finger & thumb
Sh#1 one reverse ds (2,1)
Rotate work down (opposite direction to stop work twisting)

Pearl tatted body is finger tatted
Knotted tails are worked with the shuttle threads used alternatively
Sh#2 one normal ds (1,2) Rotate work up with finger & thumb
Sh#1 one reverse ds (2,1) Rotate down opposite direction to stop twisting




Knot short ends
(1 from contrast & one from head)
Use these for finger tatting

  Ch: <1 each colour> x 5
  Ch: ---- (leg) <1 each colour> x 1 ---- (leg)
  Ch:  <1 each colour> x 3
  Ch: ---- (leg) <1 each colour> x 1 ---- (leg)
  Ch: <1 each colour> x 3
  Ch: ---- (leg) <1 each colour> x 1 ---- (leg)
  Ch: <1 each colour> x 15
  Tension chain & tie all 4 threads together with a overhand knot Cut close

  Finishing   Tie overhand knot on long picots half way up for legs
