Both normal & lock joins (aka Shuttle joins) used & a picot gauge for the legs

2 “lopsided” iridescent beads for eye
Gauge 2 cm for legs

Body
When working block chains the work is turned like a page, forward then back to stop threads getting twisted
  Ch1: vsp 4 +LJ (2nd p R) vsp 4 +LJ (next p) SLT & Turn
  * Ch2: vsp 4 +LJ (adj Ch) vsp 4 +LJ (adj p) SLT & Turn
    Repeat from * twice more    
  
Start of picots for legs
  ** Ch5: LP 1 vsp 4 +LJ (adj Ch) vsp 4 +LJ (adj p) SLT & Turn
    Repeat from ** 4 more times
  Ch10: LP 1 vsp 4 +LJ (adj Ch) vsp 4 +LJ (adj p) make a lock stitch (an unflipped half stitch)
Leave ball thread at back of work

Head
R2: 5 + (mid p last Ch) 5 + (last p Ch) 5 ----- (12 cm) 2 +B (LP) 4 ----  (12 cm) 2 +B (LP) 5 clr
Knot & glue, then trim close

Finishing cut picot for legs & trim even

Notes
How many legs are dictated by how many times Ch5 is repeated but do an even repeat!
Altering the number of Ch2 repeats can also vary the length of abdomen
