Finding Hammered & Roman Coins *
Always start off on any site in Eagle 2 Program with the Eagle Spectrum. Basic 2 Program with the XLT, and Inland 2 Program with the DFX.
If your detector is stable, with a steady Threshold Tone, go up into number 1 Program, Ground Balance and repeat the exercise. If the detector is still stable, with a steady Threshold Tone, to upgrade even further without effecting stability, turn Modulation Off. This upgrade adjustment
is much more
productive than introducing instability by increasing Preamp Gain and/or A.C. Sensitivity above their useful settings. Modulation Off will increase your finds rate of the deeper,
smaller, Hammered and Roman coins, and you will be surprised how deep you are digging on larger finds. You can turn Modulation Off in any Eagle or Basic Program (this upgrade
is not advised for my Inland Programs on the DFX). The main rule to follow is, whatever Eagle or Basic program you are in, Threshold Tone must be stable when you want to turn Modulation Off.
SEARCHING IN ALL METAL MODE ON FRESH PLOUGHED LAND
Start off in number 2 Program in any of the three detectors, Ground Balance and detect a little. If your detector is
stable, with a steady Threshold Tone, go up into number 1 Program, Ground Balance and try detecting. If the Threshold Tone is steady, carry out a ground test to fine-tune Preamp Gain. Increase Preamp Gain until the
Threshold Tone starts pulsating, then drop it back one. When you have selected the highest Preamp Gain number possible, whilst maintaining a steady Threshold Tone, turn Audio Discrim Off to select All Metal Mode.
Re-Ground Balance and fine-tune D.C. Sensitivity as high as possible, again with your detector remaining stable with a steady Threshold Tone. The fine-tuning of D.C. Sensitivity is the same in all Basic Programs, increase it
until the detector starts to become unstable and then back off a little.
