Summary
As an engineer my primary motivation comes from making things work
and seeing my designs in volume production.
I relish the challenge and opportunity of starting a new product design
from a clean sheet of paper. I like to
stay with a project from liaison with marketing in initial specification
through systems engineering and value engineering of the design to test systems
design and product software. My broad
based engineering background is vital in crossing both the hardware/software
interface and electrical/mechanical boundaries and in creating useful
innovation. I have led small design
teams in IC design, software and speculative design research.
Employment history
Siemens plc. 1987
– Date
Executive Design Engineer
·
Recruited for ASIC
design.

Hobbies and Interests
I regularly play squash
and 5-a-side football. I go skiing
every year. I like mountaineering and
hill walking & occasionally do some rock climbing and windsurfing.
I have built a couple of
cars in my spare time: a Lotus Elan
from kit/spares, and my present car, a Mazda mx5 where I installed a 3.5litre
V8 engine and re- engineered the transmission & suspension.
I have started designing
a battery electric vehicle based on a reliant kitten shell. My design targets are light weight, low cost
and relatively low range, using an induction motor/inverter drive system.
