About Bob Carter
I am mid 40s, separated with 1 daughter, Florence who's 9. I live alone in Knutsford Cheshire. I come from a large close family of blacksmiths based at Trapp Forge, Simonstone, Lancashire
I work at Siemens in Congleton designing AC drives. My role there is described as "core technology consultant" as I operate outside of the product related team structure bringing new techniques, materials and ideas to the attention of the relevant engineers as and when applicable. I am involved in the systems engineering and architectural design of all our products and usually (always) do a significant part of the final hardware design and real time software. I also design the semicustom ICs (gate arrays) in our products.
In my spare time I like to enjoy the countryside, eat well & drink real ale (and lager & whisky) I regularly play 5 a side football (though the main benefit of having me on your side is that the opposition have a long way to run round me) and squash. I occasionally go wind surfing and rock climbing. I am a diehard skier, now able to look flash while slithering from one mountain restaurant to the next...
Much of my spare time is spent making cars. Now I've made an 4.6l V8 engined mazda MX5, I'm going to try and ingratiate myself with the tree- huggers by making a battery electric car. I'll replace the mazda first with a motorbike engined lotus 7 type of car.
