Beatrice ELLERTON

"Beattie" was born in Middlesbrough, moved to Stockton-on-Tees around 1890, and then a decade later to 91 Clare Road Bootle, Lancs. (1901 Census) with her parents and siblings.

When she was 19 she eloped with Albert Critchley, and barely a year later (September 1908) gave birth to a daughter, Vera. They lived for a short period with her parents before moving to Walton, Liverpool. During the war they were evacuated to Birkdale, Southport (12 Blundell Drive?), and later moved to a flat in Princes Park, Liverpool.

The VRI includes an Albert Critchley, the son of William and Ann, born on 9/10/1887 and baptised on 19/10/1888 at St Cyprians, Edge Hill, Lancs. [the same church where Beatrice's uncle William married in 1891]. Albert was the manager of a "cannister factory". After he died Beattie lived alone at Prince Park before eventually moving to a Masonic Home in Great Crosby where she died aged 81 in 1970.

Beatrice and Vera, 1930

I have received a number of emails from five of Beatrice's great-granddaughters (Robyn, Kirsty, Antonia, Jan, and Sarah), providing details of their links to her and information on their own families. I would welcome any more pre-1930 information and/or photos that they - or others - might come across during research into their family roots.
