Charles Edward COMPTON

Born in Wenchow, the family had moved to 48 Boone Road, Shanghai before his youngest brother (Joseph) was born in 1914. Within the next four years they had moved again, this time to 7 Carter Street, Shanghai - probably shortly after his father died.

The Sydney Morning Herald of 8/3/1994 reported the death of a "Charles Edward Compton aged 97 ... late of Norah Head, formerly of Toukley" the previous day (earlier sources had suggested that he may have emigrated to the USA, but this has not been confirmed). The SMH of 22/2/1988 reported the death of a "Mouel Louise Compton on 19th February ... late of Toukley, formerly of Lindfield" - possibly Charles' wife or daughter?
