Francis Herbert ELLERTON

Francis went to a boarding school in Sydney (1916-1920) and then joined the CAR Company. He worked most of his life at various sugar mills - 3 years in northern NSW, 12 years in Fiji, back to the NSW mills as a field officer, then five years in Sydney before "retiring". He then joined a civil engineering firm as a "general factotum" for 17 years.

According to his father's obituary "Frank" was living in Suva (Fiji) in 1927, but married and had his children in NSW. He finally moved to Brisbane, where his daughter Roslyn lived. His youngest daughter, Alison, died aged 7 in Maclean.

Francis is listed on www.ww2roll.gov.au as service number N471580 (Army).

The Sydney Morning Herald of 15/7/1989 reported the death of  Lorna two days previously ("late of Kenmore, Brisbane"), and Francis died seven years later.
