According to information provided by his brother Francis, "George was classed as unfit to serve in the War", presumably for health reasons.
The family appear to have moved around a bit, as their first three children were born in Tumbi Umbi, Girvan, and Merrylands (all NSW). The obituary notice of his father showed that George resided in Merrylands in 1927.
His wife Adelaide (1906-1956) was the daughter of William Henry Cheetham and Ellen Lucas. She died at Singleton in May 1956. George died there ten years later.
