M.Y.Ashcroft's "The records of a manor: The population of Stainton (by Downholme) in the middle of the 17th century" summarises the "manor court rolls" of Stainton for 1653 to 1672. Five Ellerton names were included, as well as three Whitelock's - Christopher, George, and Margaret - possibly relations of the Christopher Whitelock who married an Ann Ellerton in 1697.
