John Frederick Heise ELLERTON

• Parents - Frederick Charles Grant Ellerton (1819-1908) and Henrietta Hudson/Heise (b.1823?).
• Married - Georgiana Elizabeth Thelwall on 20/6/1895 (b.1867 in Plymouth, Devon; daughter of Rev. Sydney Thelwall) at Radford Semele, Warwick - per IGI and GRO Index.
• Children - Renee Muriel Henriette (b.1896), Dorothy Margaret (1897-1988), Evelyn Freda (b.1899), and Frederic Howard (1903-c.1960)
• Occupation - "Physician & Surgeon, MRCS Eng." (per Kelly's 1896, and 1901 Census).

The 1861 Census for Tadcaster West showed Frederick living in Bridge Street with his parents. In 1871 the family were still in Tadcaster West, but now shown as living between the High Street and the "George & Dragon". 

According to an announcement by the Royal College of Surgeons in The Times, John "of the Leeds School passed his primary examination in anatomy and physiology" in 1872 and was registered as a full member in 1876. The Medical Register, 1913 shows him as "Mem. RCS Eng. 1874; Lic. RCP Edin.1877; MD Univ. Brussels 1886" - the latter entry possibly indicating why he has not been traced on the 1881 census.

The 1891 Census listed him at 9 Priory Terrace, Leamington Priors, Warwickshire, living with a lodger ("resident patient ... elepti") Wm Arthur Levason, a visitor Adelaid Keep, and a housekeeper Jemima Keep.  Kelly's 1896 Directory of Warwickshire recorded John as living at the same address.

At the 1901 census he was still at 9 Priory Terrace, now living with his wife Georgina and three daughters.

Deacon's 1902 Court Guide of Warwickshire listed him as "1876 [year of registration], M.D. Bruss., M.R.C.S. Eng., L.R.C.P. Edin., 9 Priory Terrace, Leamington Spa". A letter to The Editor published in The Times on 27/10/1903 was presumably sent by either him or his uncle John relating to the Warwick Election, in his capacity as "Hon. Secy. Protestant 300 of Warwick and Leamington".

Kelly's 1912 Directory of Warwickshire lists him as a "Medical Officer" at the Leamington Provident Dispensary in Hamilton Terrace, while living at 8 Leamington Terrace. Mackay's 1913 Medical Register, and Bennett's 1914 Directory for Warwickshire, showed him as a Physician/Surgeon living at Leamington Terrace.

His Probate shows "John Frederick Heise Ellerton of 98 Albert Road, Stechford, Birmingham, died 12/7/1928. Probate Birmingham on 31st August to Georgiana Elizabeth Ellerton widow. Effects £66."

Dorothy Margaret - b.1897 (GRO Index 1898, Q1). Married Mr. Langdale Smith and had two children. Died in 1988.
Evelyn Freda - b.1899 (GRO Index, Q4). Married Donald Warlord-Skinner and had a daughter who became a Reverand.
Frederick Howard - b.1903 (GRO Index, Qtr.2). Married Kathleen Helen Lister (b.1917?) on 27/4/1938 at St Andrew's Church, Darjeeling, India - described as a "tea planter" (per British Library, India Office FHS). Died in 1960's, no issue.
