Frederick George ELLERTON

• Parents - John Ellerton (1831-1916?) and Laura Elizabeth Martin (1832?-1866?)
• Married - Adelaide Mary Sharp (1863?-1931) on 1st June 1886 at The Martyrs' Memorial Church, Clerkenwell, London (GRO Index,Qtr2).
• Children - Gladys May (1887-1956), James Mouat Keith (1889-1903), and Frederick Cecil (1892-1962).
• Occupation - "Bank Clerk" (1901); "Bank Manager" (per his father's 1916 Probate).

In 1861 Frederick's family were living at 9 Westmorland Road, Paddington.

At the 1881 Census an unmarried "Geo. Ellerton, 22, b. London, clerk" was recorded living [as a lodger] at 19 Tavistock Crescent, London - this is quite probably "Frederick George", as his cousin John Alexander Ellerton was living nearby at 27 Tavistock Crescent. 

Notices in The Times and the Daily News announced his 1886 marriage to Adelaide Mary Sharp, the eldest daughter of James Wilson Sharp of Highbury Park.

Kelly's Directory of Middlesex showed him at 10 Burgoyne Road, Harringay, N in 1894/1896, and at 21 Westbury Road, New Southgate, N in 1899.

The 1901 Census showed "Fred" living with his wife Adelaide's widowed father at 16 Aberdeen Park, Islington, London - along with their children Gladys, James ("Jame" on the return!), and "Frank Cecil" - all shown as being born at Haringey/London.

Kelly's 1913 Directory of Kent showed Frederick living at 80 Preston Street, Faversham, and "manager of London County & Westminster Bank Ltd". He was the Executor of Wills of his father (1916) and aunt Catherine (1919). Click on the "thumbnail" opposite to view the picture of Frederick, probably taken around 1930.

Their Probates show:
"Adelaide Mary Ellerton of Lenaries, Brassey Avenue, Hampden Park, Eastbourne, died 29/4/1931. Probate to Barclays Bank Ltd. Effects £2,425"
"Frederick George Ellerton of Lenaries, Hampden Park, Eastbourne. Died on 13/1/1935. Probate to Westminster Bank Ltd. Effects £3,209".
His sister Alice died 3 months later, and her Probate shows her living at the same address (perhaps bequethed to her in Frederick's will).

Known facts about his children:

Gladys May - b.1887 (GRO Index Q2, Edmonton ). At the time of the 1901 Census she was living at "Harringay, London". Married Arthur John Crump - no children. Died in 1956.

James Mouat-Keith - b.1889 (GRO Index Q3, Edmonton). The PRO transcription of the 1901 Census lists him as "Jane" [sic]. Died of lockjaw in 1903, aged 14 (GRO Index Q3, Edmonton) .
