Alfred was still living with his parents at 24 Upper Park Road, Hampstead (St John's parish) in 1871. He married Rosalind, the youngest daughter of barrister Henry Michael Dunphy, in 1880 and the 1881 Census shows Alfred, Rosaline (aged 23, b. Bloomsbury/Middlesex) and a servant living at 52 Acacia Road, Middlesex.
The 1884, 1891, 1895 and 1899 Post Office London Directories listed him as "FCA, accountant, 52 Queen Victoria Street, EC", while the 1910 edition included him as a "chartered accountant", at the same address. The 1901 Census for St.Pancras, Hampstead shows Alfred, Rosalind (42, b. Holborn) and their 12 remaining children including "Raymour" [sic] and Waverline [Madeline?], and Janet [Jane?].
It seems likely that this was the Alfred who wrote many songs: in 1908 "Ellerton, the Younger, Alfred" published Actions speak louder than words, written by "Alfred Ellerton (the Elder)".
His Probate of 1915 shows: "Alfred Ellerton of 28 Parliament Hill, Hampstead, Middx. Died 3/12/1915. Probate to Clement Ecke Smiles (solicitor) and William King. Effects £608". [The 1896/1901 Kelly's and 1904-1914 Post Office London Directories also showed him at this address].
Known details of their children:
Raymond Michael - b.1881 (GRO Index Q4, Marylebone). According to the 1901 Census he was born in Paddington and was a Commercial Clerk
Arthur Stanton - b.1882 (GRO Index Q4, Marylebone; Paddington per the 1901 Census). Married in 1909 to Agnes Jane Tregaskes (GRO Index for Holborn, Q1; born 1879?) - the passenger manifest of the "Adriatic" showed that they visited Ontario via Southampton and New York in Feb/March 1909, presumably on their honeymoon. Kelly's 1911 Directory of Hants showed Arthur living at Gloucester House, Farnborough Road, Farnborough. Notices in the London Gazette* during 1916/17 reported him being appointed as a "Temp. Hon. Captain whilst employed as an Inspector A.I.D." in the RAF; and then to "Equipment Officer, 1st Class". They had a daughter, Pauline.

The National Archives shows that he won a WW1 campaign medal whilst a Private in the Coldstream Guards (regiment no. 11868). Notices in the London Gazette reported him being promoted to a Temp. 2nd Lieut. in the Coldstream Guards in 1916 [shortly before being transferred to the Royal Flying Corps]; from RAF Wing Commander to Group Captain in 1939; and then appointed "Air Aide-de-Camp to the King" in 1946. He served in the RFC/RAF from 1916-1949, and was awarded the OBE in 1919 and the CBE in 1944 - full service details are available on the RAFweb.org site. Married Maureen Gilliland Husband in 1919 (per Kelly's Handbook, 1958), and had sons David (1922-1994) and Patrick (b.1926). Alban died on 15/12/1978. There were several notices between 1943 and 1946 in the London Gazette of a David Ross Dunphy Ellerton (150363) gaining promotions to Flying Officer and Flight Lieutenant - presumably named after his grandmother, and possibly the son of Alban.
Francis Gabriel - b.1895 (GRO Index Q4, Hampstead). The London Gazette reported his promotion from a Driver in the 2nd Field Company, South Midland Divisional Engineers, Royal Engineers to 2nd Lieutenant in Feb.1915. The CWGC website indicates that he was a Corporal with the Royal Engineers (London Signal Section Training Centre) when he was killed in action on 23/4/1915. He was buried at St. John's, Hampstead. The London Gazette advised that the sum of £5 2s 9d was available to his next of kin [shown as a corporal in the Dunstable Signal Depot, R.E.].
Agnes Ruth - b. and d. in 1897 (GRO Index Q1 and Q3, Hampstead). An addendum to the 1857 Letter states that she died on 13/7/1897.
Janet Maud (aka "Nita"?) - b.1898 (GRO Index Q4, Hampstead). In the 1901 Census she was listed as "Jane". Married T. Paul.
