The Gentlemen's Magazine (xxxix, p463) included the following announcement which could relate to this individual: "St.George's Hanover Square. June 27, 1799, William Essex of St.Martin's-in-the-Fields, B. and Elizabeth Ellerton of this Parish, S. Licence" - the "B" and "S" after the names indicate Batchelor and Spinster. The marriage is also recorded in the Pallot's Marriage Index.

A William Essex is mentioned twice in connection with John Frederick Ellerton's family, the latter occasion in 1875 possibly relating to Elizabeth's son??
