The archives comprise of scanned images of each page/section of The Times, and the search engine produced 779 citations of "Ellerton" between 1785 and 1899. These included numerous references to the "Pusey and Ellerton Scholarship" (Rev. Edward Ellerton 1771-1851 – one of the last surviving descendants of Richard, 1678-1743), John Ellerton (the famous hymn-writer, 1826-1893), and "Ellerton" place/street-names – for the sake of brevity very few of these have been transcribed below. For convenience, I have "grouped" various mentions of each person together, so that the relevant details can be easily assimilated.

Note: The details in square brackets [ ] are my own observations, including references to pages on my website, eg. [EG4-1-1.htm]. Entries marked ** were derived from "Palmer’s Index to The Times", indicating that probably many mentions of "Ellerton" were not identified in the above search.
