The Hipswell PR's record that "Christopher, son of
Mathew Ellerton of Scotton" was baptised on 4th January 1725. Subsequent entries in the PR's show the
baptisms of possible siblings Jane (June 1731) and Mathew (Jan.1732) - whose
father is described as "Mathew Ellerton of Sandbeck and Whitehouse". Hipswell
was a Chapelry of Catterick, but only used for baptisms and marriages at this
period of time.
The Marske PR's show that Christopher married Elizabeth Wilson in 1753: "he of Druggan Hill in the Parish of Catterick, she of this Parish"), and their 7 children are all listed in the Hipswell PR's as children of "Christopher and Eliz. Ellerton of Druggan Hill".
The 1805 Admons for Elizabeth mentions her children Robert and Christopher (both "of Scotton ... husbandman"), "James of Richmond ... shoemaker", "Isabella wife of Thomas Sledge", and "Thomas of Little Britain, London ... silversmith"; and a "Matthew Ellerton of Scotton ... husbandman" (her late husband's brother?).
