The "Christopher of Grinton 1725" Tree  

As Christopher Ellerton was married in Grinton (on 14/5/1750 to "Sara Cherry, both of this parish" per the PR's) and later died there it seems likely that his parents may have lived/died in the same locality. His son Francis made a big contribution to the tree (having at least 15 children!), and grandson James (1783-1851) was notable for moving his branch of the Ellerton family to Lancashire circa 1815.

It is possible that Christopher remarried after the early demise of Sarah, as a marriage entry in the Grinton PR's for 5/11/1765 shows "Christopher Ellerton & Ann Metcalf, both of this parish, by banns" - and a burial entry on 1/5/1767 for "Ann, wife of Christ. Ellerton of Fremington [close to Grinton]".
