The "George 1714" Tree  

George was probably born in Kendal - the IGI shows a George ELERTSON, chr. 30th March 1714 at Kendal; parents Francis (b.1689?) and Ann. At the time of his death in June 1760 he lived in Clawthorpe Hall, Burton-in-Kendal, where he was reputed to have been engaged in horse-breeding.

George was the great grandfather of John Ellerton (1826-1893), the famous hymn-writer.
