2004 John Banks Enduro It was a cold start to the day at Thetford forest but the Scots had an excellent day. Euan MacConnell was out for the first time on his Honda Racing CR250 and took the overall win at the John Banks Enduro. Daryl Bolter took first blood in the first test but Euan came back in the second to take the overall. The last lap was the usual dash to the finish with just 36 minutes to complete the 18 mile lap. Euan must be looking forward to next year with the full backing of the Honda squad, after a year out I am sure there are more good results to come. Kevin Murray finished 8th in the Championship Class as the Enduro season draws to a close. Scottish Clubman Champion Paul Chatham finished his first full season on a high with the overall win in the Clubman Class. There were 165 riders in the class at this popular end of season event. Paul's first test was the quickest of the day and he went on to win by 13 seconds. The first test proved critical as the track became more rutted as the day progressed. Paul is improving his riding on the course and completed his last lap in just 37 minutes, he is planning a winter of fitness training to help his stamina. Roll on 2005. The John Banks was TOM SAGARS first event for the GAS GAS UK Enduro Team. It is known as a pretty tough event and as normal Andy Waters and the rest of the DISS M.C.C did a superb job. It was Toms first event on the GAS GAS and his first event in the Championship Class where the check times and pace are a step up from what he has been used to this year in the Expert Class. He coped very well staying on time all day and recorded two consistantly test times mixing it with the regular Championship Class riders with ease. 7th place overall was a good debut ride and Tom will now know the level that he must aim towards next year. With only having the bike two weeks ago, i was particularly impressed with how quickly he has adapted to the bike and look forward to seeing him in action at the first round of the 2005 British Enduro Championship in March @ The Breckland. |
