Rotherham striker Leo Fortune
West has turned down an offer to join Cardiff after the two clubs
seemingly agreed a deal for the player. The 6ft 4ins striker has
declined to join the Ninian Park outfit. Speaking to reporters
the ex-Gillingham player said. "No, I'm not joining Cardiff
City."
Cardiff manager, Bobby Gould, clarified the situation this afternoon.
"The player said no. Leo Fortune West is not coming to Ninian
Park." He said. This is the second time in 24 hours the ex-Wales,
Wimbledon, Bristol Rovers and Coventry boss has been told no.
Only yesterday he asked his wife if she fancied a drive in the
country and she said, "no."
Cardiff chairhaman, Sam Hamman, was not available for comment
but associates of the Lebanese millionaire intimated that a giant
inflatable blimp sporting the legend," No, Leo Fortune West
is not signing for Cardiff City," had been released over
Swansea City centre this afternoon.
Ex-chairman, Steve Borley, was also unavailable for comment. He
has been locked in the lavatory since August Bank Holiday Monday,
apparently part of the agreement that brought the Hamman millions
to Ninian Park. Friends of Borley (real people not a Charity)
have urged him to study small print more carefully in future.
Did I mention that Sam Hamman has bought the club in a 3.1 million
deal?
In a shock move, designed to be
irritating, Leo Fortune West has sensationally signed for Cardiff
City. Only yesterday, Fortune West told reporters that he rather
have his nipples removed with hot pincers than join Bobby Gould
at Ninian Park. Although Gould was convinced he could talk the
player round.
"Cardiff is a team I have always wanted to join," said
the 6ft 4in striker.
