David Hughes - New President

Brief History of the Club

Brecon Swimming Club was formed in 1972, it was started by Mr Eddie Boulter, and Mr Ken Hope who was the swimming pool manager at the time.

It also had two water polo teams junior and senior.

When the club began, there were hardly any swimmers in the Brecon area, but the Schools Swimming Programme, soon had swimmers of all abilities ready to join the club.

The first Chairman of the swimming club was Mr W J Smith who was the PE organiser for South Powys.

Mr Hope became Secretary and Eddie Boulter the Coach. The club has enjoyed many successes over the years, and compete in many galas all over Wales England and even in Holland.

Brecon is a small club, but has produced several international swimmers and many county swimmers.

The club forms part of the East Wales area, and competes in the East Wales Championships every year.

Club Times (At Brecon Leisure Centre)

The club meets on Tuesday evening from 5pm to 8pm throughout the year and on Thursdays at 6pm to 7pm.

Early morning training is available from 6.45am to 8am on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, subject to invitation.

New membership assessments are taken on the last Tuesday of the month.
