Performance
I have been asked many times what
the performance and handling of the
car is like so I have detailed below some of the more salient points....
Top
Speed should be at
least the same as the Granada/Sierra donor car but if you have improved
the breathing by addition of aftermarket air filters, improved the
exhaust system with a bespoke set up you should see better acceleration
and mid range torque. The top end will also have improved but because
of the less than streamlined design your unlikely to get anywhere near
it!! Without putting myself at risk of prosecution my car is capable of
at least 115mph (Granada127mph) and despite the flat front end handles
extremely well, remaining stable and well mannered which is also helped
by the slightly lighter body weight (1372kg Vs 1390kg) stiffer chassis
and more central engine position. 0 - 60 times are again at least as
good or poor as the donor car but would suggest that between 7 and 9
seconds are easily achievable. To be fair the car isnt designed for
high speed but for open top touring with the ability to put on the pace
when required which the car does admirably.
Braking force is
distributed in favour of the front discs as with all modern cars. On
SVA testing the following
figures were recorded.
Front Axle Brake force
323kgf max
Imbalance between left and right less than 2%
Rear Axle
234kgf max
Imbalance between left and right less than 2%
Parking Brake
213kgf
Imbalance between left and right 4%
Fuel
Consumption is
not something that I concern myself with..... its not very good but is
clearly dependant upon your style of driving. My car being an automatic
obviously suffers from the offset with the guide being the donor models
figures which for a Granada are as follows
Granada 2.0l OHC Manual
@Urban
driving 25.4mpg @ constant 56mph
42.8mpg
