BAIRD T23 TELEVISION (1938)
The BAIRD T23 was a 15" mirror lid TV. It was based on the T5 of 1936. The main difference between the two was the vision reciever unit. In the T5 a large Superhet vision reciever was used, in the T23 a cheaper TRF vision reciever was used instead.

The David Boynes T23 has been modified (probably by the BAIRD company) after the war to enable it to be fitted with a COSSOR 65K 15" tube.
The tube in David's set had expired, so a replacement was fitted. The set is now working again.

The original EHT rectifier is an STC VLS61. The tube heater supply was 3.2V max, no good for a 4V tube.
The EHT cover is 11 1/4" long, 6 1/4" wide and 9 1/2" high excluding lid and brackets. The metal is about 0.8 to 1mm thick (or the neerest standard gauge).
The slot is located on the inner side (as viewed at back of TV), it is 3/4" from the rear edge, 4 1/2" wide, 9" inches high and 6" from the front edge.
The lid is slightly larger than the sides (by the thickness of the metal) so that it fits snugly on top of the box. The lid is 1/2 inch deep, there are four spot welds on the longer sides and two on the shorter.
The front of the cover is shorter than the rest, it is 9 1/4 inches high, this relief continues 1/4" back on each side and is shown in the picture that says 'note step'.
There are three fixing brackets, there is one each side 1 1/8" from the front edge (measured at centre of bracket). The third is on the outer side only (the side without the slot), located 6 1/8" from the front edge.
The screw to locate the interlock socket is located 1/4 from the bottom edge and 1 5/8 from the outer (left hand) edge. A larege hole is used to aid the location of the interlock socket. A standard Bulgin 2 pin socket was used, The assembly screw was lengthend so that it also served as the location screw. I have some spare sockets if nesessary.
