The inspiration for Shekallar comes from a story I began writing back in 1987 called 'Valley of the Shattered Pearl'. An adventure from Acorn Hollow to the Forests of Forever Night unfirl a fantasy world where incantations called from ancient scrolls conjure forth beings in many guises to assist on a quest for the great Pearl of Knowledge.
The evil Skarraquin Lord, Carrabella the Faery Goddes, Squelitch the swamp monster, the giant Golden Dragonhawk moth, Grimstig the Tree of Knowledge, the Twilight Sprites, Blue the kingfisher, Hoodwink & Stutz the little Bogle gaurdians, Tarron, Alicia, the Sword of Dominion and a score of others errupted from my imagination over a five year period. |
Eventually, my wonderful children Daniel and Amy came along, time was ever more scarce and my story seemed to grind to a halt. It has only been very recently that I have taken up the creative challenge to carry on realising the characterization of my ideas and perhaps - who knows - if someone is interested, I may even finish the story!
