Brian's colourful and imaginative
paintings are the result of many years of searching to find an original and
sustainable personal vision. A vision that will intrigue the viewer by virtue
of the juxtaposition of surprising images, at once strange and yet familiar.
The urban landscape pictures are based on ideas about movement and change,
and literally reflect the pace of city life where nothing is static.
His subject matter also suits his working methods. He likes to look at things
by scanning from left to right, rather than visually absorbing them in a single
frontal bite. Naturalistic colour is transformed by the reflections in shop
windows allowing for surprising and unexpected relationships to occur.
