Submission Wrestling ñ Rules and Regulations
By entering the
competition you accept these rules and regulations (or your parent/guardian
does on your behalf for juniors).
Competitors (or
their parents/guardians in the case of juniors) are responsible for ensuring
they have appropriate insurance. The
organisers will not accept any responsibility for loss, damage or injury.
Finger and toe
nails must be cut short. No gi need be worn.
The following is
intended to give helpful guidance. If you need further clarification please ask
the Referee. In all cases the Refereeís decision will be final.
…
No
technique should be performed in a reckless or excessively dangerous way.
…
No
strikes of any kind. No eye gouging or groin grabbing, and for juniors no face
bars. No techniques where pressure is put on the neck/spine with the spine bent
backwards (spine lock).
…
Start
from standing.
…
Throw
from standing. 4 points for a clear throw, 3 points if opponent lands on their side.
…
A 10
second pin is awarded an advantage point. You must then move to another hold.
…
Juniors are allowed arm and leg locks, and strangles. No pressure to be applied. 3 points
will be awarded when the technique is judged to be successfully in place.
…
Seniors can apply pressure. Points will not be awarded for
arm and leg locks and strangles: the aim is to achieve a submission, where you
win outright.
If there is no outright win, the winner will be decided by points. If there is no score or the points are tied, there will be a further minute. If there is no winner after that time, the result will be decided by who has done the most attacking in the extra minute.
