All the early photographs featured in the Galleries were originally taken using 35 mm equipment (Canon T70 and Sigma SA-300 / SA5 cameras with various lenses of differing focal lengths attached), and, in general, loaded with Fujicolor film for prints and Fujichrome Velvia for transparencies. The resulting prints and transparencies were quite often simultaneously scanned onto Kodak CD medium or selected images scanned at a later date. The full Kodak range has been utilised including Kodak Photo CD, Kodak FlashPix CD and Kodak Picture CD. All of which have given faithful renditions of my photographs, with the 1536 x 1024 scan on the Photo CD being of especial use for both digital printed output, and for Web Page inclusion following a reduction of the photo size. During 2000 I purchased the excellent Minolta Dimage Scan Dual II dedicated film scanner and now all my scans are produced this way. Later images were taken using the Canon G2 4Mp digital camera, purchased in late 2001, which I can thoroughly recommend. Manipulation
to achieve a technically optimised interpretation was carried out
with a variety of imaging software including Macromedia Fireworks,
Adobe PhotoShop, and Adobe Image Ready amongst others and, apart from
the removal of unwanted intrusions in the composition or blemishes
on the scan the final result is as near to reality as I can remember
when I took the originals (apart from the Computer Art Gallery of
course). Panoramics The Panoramics Gallery was introduced in June 2000 and features images that have been compiled from either three or four separate photographs which have then been 'stitched' together using ArcSoft Panorama Maker 2000 software. The subsequent composite image has then been improved in Adobe PhotoShop to produce the final rendering of the scene. I
hope to increase the content of the Panoramics section in due course. File Size All
the photo files have been reduced dramatically for Web presentation
to facilitate as fast a download time as possible, without, I hope,
compromising on quality. Please be patient whilst the files download
and let me know by email if you either think that the files are too
large or indeed too small with a consequent loss of resolution and
clarity.
