Welcome to the brookworms web page.
We are a group of about 40 women (mostly with children and with a variety of occupations) who found ourselves in a reading rut. We now choose a book every 6 weeks or so by a democratic process involving heated debate over recent reviews. The intensity of the subsequent discussion depends on whether or not our opinions on the book coincide. We mainly read contemporary fiction and have all discovered many new authors, both to read more of and to avoid!. Most of us live in Brookwood, near Woking in Surrey - hence the name of the group.
These are the books we have read. The links will take you to comments from our group discussions on the books, giving a brief summary of views on them - more comments for the more recent books. Every year we also choose our favourite books read that year. The ones with more than one vote each are also listed below.
