thekitchengods.jpg (6313 bytes)The Kitchen God's Wife by Amy Tan - about Pearl, who has a secret from her mother - who also has a secret past. The story is set in Shanghai in the 1920s, spans World War II and then moves to America. According to the back jacket it covers innocence and loss, tragedy and survival, hope, love and friendship. We all enjoyed the book but found the main character irritating to varying degrees. read Amazon's review
