The Editors - Andrew & Lisa Busby

Hello there!

As this is the 'tell-us-about-yourselves' bit, I guess we should start by attempting to say something interesting! Well, apart from smoking, drinking, watching horror films, reading, and playing far too many computer games (as well as having to work, unfortunately), we also find time to edit and publish Sackcloth & Ashes, a magazine of chilling horror fiction.

Sackcloth & Ashes came about because of our obsessive addiction to the Horror genre. Conceived over many months and many long chats (and quite a few drinks), the first issue finally appeared in September 1998. Before that, however...

Andrew Busby was born on the 24th September, 1969. A promising soccer career culminated in a trial for Everton FC when he was seventeen, though his interest (and ability) waned soon after failing to make the grade. He taught himself to play piano, and soon had an avid interest in synthesisers. A few cabaret bands later, and Andrew, together with drummer Paul Joyce, formed a band called The Balance. They wrote all their own material and soon had built up a large local following, but the glory was short-lived. The band split because of 'musical differences' late in 1992.

However, throughout school and beyond, Andrew had always had an interest in literature, especially Horror, and in 1993 he started writing short stories and a dark-tragedy Horror novel. Over the years, he has accrued credits in numerous small press magazines including The Charnel House, Unsane and Sci-Fright. The novel has yet to be completed (if he manages to stop playing Quake™ for more than a few minutes!).

Lisa Busby
was born on the 4th February, 1970. She started ballet dancing at two-years-old, and she was fully qualified by the time she stopped at sixteen. Her tutu discarded, Lisa began to discover the many shapes and forms of industrial music. Her favourite bands include Nine Inch Nails, KMFDM, Marilyn Manson and Skinny Puppy.

What started off as a father-daughter hobby of photography, led to Lisa progressing into computer art and graphic manipulation. In addition to being the main artist for S&A, she has designed book covers and has recently received numerous requests for commissions from both British and American publishers. She is possibly the best and most ruthless player of Tetris™ that you could wish to meet!
