May God be with you. I give you greetings.This evening my friends, it is with pleasure that I talk to you as always, for to us on this side of life it is a privilege to be allowed to return and to speak with you, not merely as messengers or as teachers but hopefully as friends also. It is for this reason that we prefer to use the form of teaching that we do. To speak very briefly and to spend the most of our time to answer your questions and speak with you.
Today I will speak with you about the power which lies not only within you but throughout the universe. The power to decide your own destiny. It may seem to you at many times when life becomes difficult, when troubles abound and you see only darkness before you, that light will never come; how then you say can I decide my destiny. But it is not the physical of which I speak, it is the ability of your spirit to become aware of the presence of God within you. Each one of you, no matter what the circumstances of your birth and upbringing is a part of the God Spirit, a part of the universe and you and you alone decide how far you will progress during any one incarnation. There are many upon this earth born into very humble homes, who recognizing the God Spirit within them, recognizing that God is there for all men, against all opposition have fought to carry forward this word of truth. Such beings are those who carry with them true conviction. Men speak of faith, faith without knowledge, that perhaps yes is good but there is, within, a knowledge which goes beyond belief, beyond faith, it is not a creed or a dogma but a certainty that God the Father exists, that the Creator of life is not a being to fear but a being that requires only one sacrifice, the sacrifice of your love and devotion.
It is difficult when upon earth to carry this love continually within your heart, for loving as the God Spirit loved, means extending that love to the whole of creation. We tell you time and time again that you cannot separate yourselves from each other and that means not only from those you love, from your families and friends but from those whom you would deem your enemies also; for they too are a part of God, they are a part of creation. The God Spirit is a symbol of light, of beauty, of understanding. I was asked how I would define understanding. Understanding is being aware that you are a part - only a part - of the whole being of creation. It means being aware of the interrelationships of the beings of every form that dwell upon earth, it, means being aware of nature, of your environment, of your responsibility towards each other and to the earth plane; just as the earth itself has a responsibility towards the remainder of the universe. For make no mistake, there are indeed more things in heaven and earth than man can dream of. There are many other planets which are inhabited, some by beings similar to man, others by other forms of life and all these are as much a part of the God Spirit as are we who dwell or dwelt upon earth.
Life extends far beyond the reaches of earth and all life is important; it is necessary in gaining understanding to realize the immensity of creation. Understanding means that you accept the power and the will of God, that you accept the love which is given to you and which you in turn must give. Understanding means the realization that this life upon earth is but brief, that it is but one facet of your eternal life, for you and every other being are immortal. What life has been given, what spirit has entered, that spirit, that soul is indestructible. You cannot therefore destroy life but you should have reverence for the physical form which life upon earth takes. One who understands strives never to be the cause of suffering, of pain, of humiliation to another being, whether that being be human or otherwise. Understanding means having reverence for life and showing compassion to yourselves and to all other beings.
It means bringing forth that part of you which is spirit, that part of you which is aware of God. Awareness of the God Spirit brings with it both wisdom and knowledge, it brings a tranquillity of soul which lifts you above the turmoil of life upon earth and raises you into the kingdom of God. The teachers who have come to you upon earth, those who have devoted their lives to giving the message of the God Spirit, understood this fully. They had a true knowledge and a true understanding of the power of the God Spirit, they realized that the immensity of the plan of God could not be visualized by man whilst yet upon earth. What they all strove to teach was the love that the Spirit of God had on the children of earth. The kingdom of God can be made manifest by each one of you, not at some future date but here and now in your own lives. Do not look ever forward, live for the time now. Try to make your part of the world, the corner where you exist, a better place for your being there. Try to see the manifestation of love, of goodness, of power. It is not some far far place, or in the far far distant future, the kingdom of God is your heritage, it is for you to claim, each one of you. Not when you come to the side of life which I now inhabit, it is your right here now upon earth. Find within yourself tranquillity of soul, peace of mind, which comes from atonement and knowledge of God.Mayet Ptah
Question. May I ask, who is addressing us this evening.
I am Mayet Ptah, I was last upon this earth in the land of Egypt at the time of Sesostris I. I was a teacher in the temple at Thebes, what you now call Thebes. I strive to bring to you the understanding of the God Spirit, which so many years ago we were able to discover. It was believed that we worshipped the sun, that we worshipped various animals and gods and stone images. That truly is a mistake. The God Spirit is light and what more appropriate a symbol of light than the sun himself. It was not the sun we worshipped but the light of God and the warmth which came from it. The reason for naming various creatures as gods was to show an ignorant people that God the Spirit of Life was present in all things and that therefore all creatures upon earth were our brothers and sisters and should be worshipped and reverenced, for the God Spirit which gave life to them as well as to us.My people then were cultured and far more spiritually aware than many of you today. Life was centred much around our belief, around our knowledge of God. ‘Tis said in your present time that those who dwelt in ancient Egypt were obsessed with death. That too is a misunderstanding, for we of the very ancient times were not obsessed with death at all, for we did not fear it, we recognized it my friends for what it was, a portal, a doorway into the next stage of our spiritual evolvement. Hopefully in the time to come,, much that has been written of those times will be reassessed, for it does give a somewhat one-sided picture both of what we achieved and what we knew.
Predestination and Freewill
[Question. Could you say something about predestination].
I would not like to count the times this question has been asked. I say to you without any doubt whatsoever, that life, your life upon earth is not and never has been predestined. Each of you has freewill, you have the will to choose your path. The only way in which one could conceivably believe that it was in any way predestined, is that prior to your return to earth, you will have discussed and thought about your reason for return. You will have certainly, if you are a younger soul, sought advice as to when, where and how you should return to earth but the choice is your own; the choice of your parents, your place of birth, your circumstances. You will have decided either that you have a lesson to learn, a task to perform, whatever, and you will seek the time, the place and the people, who will be, shall we say, most helpful to you in carrying-out whatever may have been your reason. You therefore will set the trend of your life but not the individual events and even those trends you can refuse to accept, you can change your mind, there is no compulsion. Your life, your progress, your pathway is yours.
It is the same when people say to me why did not spirit prevent such and such an event. We cannot, it is against the laws of the God Spirit for us to interfere in your life upon earth. We can advise, we can help, we are there to be leaned upon but we cannot say you must, only perhaps, if you were wise you would. Each of you must make your own way, you are not alone for there are friends to help but your lives you have to live, we cannot do it for you.
Your Decision to Return
[Question. At the time of passing, do you decide when you are going to come back from the world of spirit].
No you do not, not necessarily. Sometimes there are cases, for instance where a small child desires to return to spirit and that not always but often, that is that souls own choice, they have only need [of a] short time upon earth to complete whatever it was they desired to do, or felt necessary to do. You upon earth have for many generations misused the physical covering of your spirit. Truly it should be that when the time comes and your task is fulfilled, you should really be able to say, now I will return and drop away the physical and allow the spirit to go forward as it does when moving from sphere to sphere of this side of life. But man for so long has abused the earth on which he dwells, the body which he inhabits, that disease has become the major cause of parting, when it should merely be, stepping out of something you have outgrown and outworn.
Interplanetary Communication
[Question. Are there beings on other planets able to communicate with and travel to earth and are they more advanced than man].
They find it far more simple than do you upon earth. There are many dwelling upon planets throughout the universe and I think I have mentioned before, who are far more spiritually advanced than you upon earth. There are degrees of development and evolvement, there are planets which contain forms of life which are in the very early rudimentary stage, there are those who are, shall we say, more or less level with the understanding of you upon earth and there are those beings who have a greater technical and spiritual knowledge. They have the ability to travel from planet to planet more often than you would realize, for they come unannounced and have the ability to make themselves unnoticed, for they do not seek notoriety. They do not seek harm to us; the beings that come to you are beneficent in the extreme. Their desire is to prevent man from behaving, as he so often does, like a spoilt child and destroying his very reason for being. For if earth were destroyed through mans stupidity, it would affect the whole universe just as whether you know it or not, the death, the demise of any being upon earth affects you, for you are involved not only in mankind but in the life of earth itself. There are many, many differing forms of life throughout these planets. Some recognizably humanoid, others with forms which at present you would find difficult to accept or even to visualize. We are able from this side of life, to travel to some of them and I can tell you without any question of doubt that these beings have the welfare, not only of earth but of the universe at heart and from them there is nothing to fear, nothing at all.
I feel that as time goes on, there will be more and more of these visitations and eventually they will make themselves known for what they are, helpers and friends. Upon earth there is much speculation, much imagination; I know that you have what you call your science fiction pictures and so on. But these horrors bear no relationship whatsoever to the beings among you, who seek only to give love and assistance. Those who have travelled to other planets from earth have experienced difficulties, many of them, in speaking of what they have truly seen. Those who have spoken out and described the objects they have seen moving as they passed through space, have been politely ridiculed but the time will come when these sightings can no longer be denied, they will be seen by so many, that they cannot all be hallucinating or drugged or drunk.
Benefits from Other Planets
Question. Good evening Mayet Ptah. While we are on the subject, what is the first benefit these people can give us, is it on a spiritual level, on a technological level or scientific level or on all levels. And if so, how do they contact us and we contact them, or do they have to rely on contact being made with the spirit world and then referring what they know to us.
Those beings who have already visited earth have proved by their ability to adapt to earth conditions without notice, that they are far more technically advanced than man. They do not come to you wearing space suits, they do not need to be treated upon their visits to earth, as do your astronauts on their return. They have wisdom, for they are the teachers; they are those who seek to give to earth the knowledge it took them long to discover. It is a privilege not to be ignored. Until this time they have needed always to work quietly in secret, as it were, because of the disbelief of man. But as I was trying to point out, as time goes on you will become aware of these beings and be able to gain the benefit of their spiritual, mental, scientific and technical knowledge. Their aim is to improve the quality of life upon earth but I would say to you, not only for man; these beings have learnt the value of recognizing the web of life, of realizing that all creatures dwelling upon a planet are there because the God Spirit willed it so, that they have their right to live and to live as they choose, without fear, without the knowledge that man must be fled from. Man has become the worst predator known upon the face of earth. It is sad because he had the opportunity to make this earth a haven. Gradually he is coming to the realization that one cannot continually take, one cannot keep on destroying, without losing something of oneself. That earth must be replenished and that he must learn to live at one, not only with mankind but with earth itself. On the planets of those who come, there are no barriers, no frontiers and those who have developed from various nations and tribes as you would call them upon earth, those who have a different appearance, a different language are accepted as brothers and sisters. There is there the complete understanding of the will of God. Complete brotherhood, love, and this they strive to distribute as do we in the world of spirit. It saddens all who have gained understanding to see the self -destruction which man perpetrates upon earth. To see those who should live in harmony and in peace with each other, squabbling like children as to who should enter a land.
My brother Manyomin spoke very wisely on this subject during his last incarnation lone cannot sell the land on which the people walk, for it is a sacred path, the land therefore belongs not to man, to whom it is only lent but to God. I therefore cannot sell it, it is not mine'. If only you would try to realize this, that frontiers, passports, barriers and that all those that believe differently to you, those whose skin is a different colour, whose diet is different, whose language you do not understand; they too are children of God, even though they may not believe in God or though they may worship in a different way to you, yet still they are children of God, as are you and each and every one of you has the same birthright, the same power if you would choose to use it.
Twin Souls
Question. Could I ask you, do we have soul-mates and do we have one or more than one and what is their purpose. Would we perhaps recognize them from one lifetime to the next and would they be the same in each lifetime. [See also Chapter 3].
Not necessarily in each lifetime, each one of you has what we would call its twin soul. The other half which complements you completely and with whom you will always feel immediately at one. You will feel if you are both on earth at the same time, drawn to each other with an affinity which cannot be broken no matter what may come between you. But it is not always possible for both to be present on earth at the same time. You do often throughout your incarnations meet in one form or another. It can be any combination, it can even be a great-grandparent, who a child will feel is drawing close. It may not be a blood relative at all, there may be what people say is merely a bond of friendship but friendship is one of the greatest forms of love that you can find. You have had upon earth a man who wrote lines which illustrate this very well, I know it because my medi [medium] loves it dearly, I will quote only a little, the beginning and the end: 'One man in a thousand Solomon says, will stick more close than a brother and it's worthwhile seeking him half your days, if you find him before the other.' And it ends: 'nine hundred and ninety-nine can't bide the shame and the mocking laughter, but the thousand man will stand by your side to the gallows foot and after.' And that is a twin-soul who will always be there whether upon earth or on this side of life, close by you and standing for you, no matter what your situation, that soul is loyal and loving.
You complement and help each other throughout the life’s journey and I mean lives as a whole, not merely one incarnation. The purpose of our returning to earth is to complete and to perfect the pattern of your progress, to balance the karma which you through ignorance may have incurred, as you know there is one very great law, that of reaping that which you sow. The harvest is of your making but you must, no matter how long it takes you, balance all things within your lives. You are not compelled to punish yourselves, to make retribution; how you seek to justify your actions is for you to decide. But you my friend make all the decisions. The twin-soul will help, as you if that other soul is upon earth and you are on this side of life, will help them; you are the help-mate, the guardian of each other and when you find the state of complete perfection, then there win be no separation, you will indeed be one being.
The Power of Prayer
Question. How important is the power of prayer and is one person’s prayer stronger than another, as in healing. [See also Chapter 4].
The power of prayer is immense, it cannot my friend be measured. When you say, is one persons prayer more powerful than another, I have to say that is dependent largely upon the motivation which has brought about that prayer. Do you understand? Very often we have been asked [told] I pray continually but I never receive an answer. I have to tell you that every thought, every plea, every prayer is heard and is indeed answered. But what these questioners really mean is, it is not answered as I would have it answered, there is the difference. Remember when perhaps you are praying for the continuance of life upon earth, someone you dearly love and that person is gravely ill, suffering. For whom then do you ask this? Not for your loved-one, it is a prayer for self, you need the continued friendship, you cannot bear to be parted but true love, a true prayer would be: ‘Father, end this suffering, end this pain and if to end it you must take the one I love, then may Thy will be done and swiftly so. For true love knows not the pain of parting, does not grieve but offers thanksgiving for the renewed life' and health and joy of the one that is gone. It is hard to raise ones prayer, I know, to this level when upon earth but these are the prayers which are answered. If each and every one upon this earth, I do not mean you who have knowledge but all mankind were to stop for one moment of time, cease thinking of yourselves as beings, cease believing of yourselves at the centre of the world and send out one great thought of love for all beings known and unknown to you, one great prayer for the cessation of warfare, then indeed would the peace of God reign upon this earth. Too often we see so clearly from here, these prayers offered by warring nations for victory. God is on our side they say, we are the chosen of God, we have been Christian people, we are God-fearing, God will protect us. If only man would come to the realization, that the God Spirit cannot listen to such prayers, hear them yes, answer them no. All mankind is one and God does not take sides. It is like a mother, parent presiding over the quarrels of children. They must learn to come to terms with each other. Slowly, slowly, slowly man is progressing towards this point. There are no chosen ones, the only difference is that some among you have opened your ears and listened. You have listened to God within you, you have listened and become enlightened. Let your prayers then be for all mankind, let them be for the upliftment of soul and spirit, that man may indeed come to understand and accept his destiny and that you may learn truly the meaning of love. That is a prayer which will carry more weight than any other you could think of and each of you has the power to send it forth, the power most of all, to make it happen.
Epilogue
I thank you all for your questions which I hope have been answered in an understandable way. And now if you will bear with me, I will close with a prayer.
O Spirit of light, Spirit of truth, let each one be aware of Thy presence within, let them come to the realization that only through Thee can they find peace. Only through Thee and through Thy love can man find his salvation, let each one therefore adopt a brother of less understanding, of less knowledge, let them uplift them as we have tried to uplift those here tonight. Let them Father, make manifest Thy kingdom within their own hearts, let the glory of Thy light shine forth from their brow that all who see them may wonder and seek to find the cause. O Father, in past times Thou hast sent Thy light upon earth for all to see. Let the eyes of man now be opened that they may indeed behold Thy glory and let that glory spread over all the earth, that warfare may cease, that man may learn to dwell one with the other in peace, in humility and in love. Father, walk with each one tonight on their homeward journey, let them move hand in hand with Thee, becoming more and more aware of Thy closeness, of Thy presence within. Let them come to the realization that they only need to call and Thou art there. Let there be Father, an upliftment throughout this earth plane and lightening of tension and of fear. Let man realize the meaning of life, the purpose of his own divinity. Father, we leave all things in Thy hands, now and always, so may it be.
