May God be with you, I give you greetings.My friends this evening I will speak with you briefly about the search for truth, for proof, for understanding. Many of you are taught to follow the precept of an orthodox religion, be it Christianity, Judaism, Hinduism, Mohamedism, Buddhism. As you grow older and your minds expand, there comes very often, even to the most devout, a feeling of doubt, a wondering; are the restrictions by which you are bound truly the will of God. To some these restrictions, the ritual, the dogma are a shelter behind which they may hide there own lack of fibre, their own lack of understanding. This must be so, it always has been, because my parents were of this persuasion, because the priests say so. But the mind that desires to learn, to find truth, probes into every facet of the beliefs that are taught; seeks not to belittle the beliefs which have been held through many ages but to find perhaps that seed of truth which after all is present in all religions, in all beliefs. To find that truth and to expand upon it, to see how that can best be applied to life as it is lived today. The enquiring mind looks through the ritual, discards the dogma and seeks the true teaching, not the teachings that have been added by the followers of the various religions but the nucleus of understanding that that particular teacher brought to earth.
Each and every religion has within it the seed of faith, it has indeed originated from the mind of the God Spirit but man seems unable to accept the simplicity of truth, to realize that the God Spirit is love and light and being. That God is not like ourselves, selfish, unforgiving and cruel but a being of light desirous of seeing all the children of earth, the inhabitants of the universe dwelling together in peace and in harmony. The God of the Hebrews was known as a God of vengeance until the Nazarene came and showed mankind a better way; gave men hope, gave men the understanding that God was Father/Mother who bound the whole earth plane together as one great family. How sad that this great truth, that the simplicity and love which he brought has been distorted into what is called Christianity today. My friends truth knows no barriers, it is not confined to the minds of any one creed or nation, truth is there for all men if they would but open their eyes, their ears and their minds to receive it. Life is continuous, it cannot be destroyed, that is what the Nazarene has taught and what all the great teachers who have come to this earth have given to mankind. But each following seeks to confine it to their own interpretation; we are the chosen people, we are they who shall be saved at the latter day. Within the Christian religion there are many factions, each one seeking to prove that they and they alone are perpetrators of truth. God the Spirit is there for you all, be you Christian, Pagan or whatever; God is God by whatever name you call It. God gave life to the earth, to the planets, to the universe. The mind of God is with you all and for you all and is the truth.
To search for this understanding, this knowledge, you must first empty your mind of all preconceived ideas, let the voice of the God Spirit speak within you. Accept only that which comes from within, that which you feel and know to be right, to be truthful. Do not allow others to sway you, to make you deviate from the path you have chosen. Open your mind to the words of all teachers, do not allow yourself to be swayed by one alone. Examine all possibilities but my friends, seek always to prove your truth, never to disprove. This so often is why so-called demonstrations before those of the scientific fraternity fail. There are so few of them who seek to prove the truth of life beyond what you call the grave. Always it seems to us, it is treated with ridicule and the desire is not to prove but to disprove, to make fools of you all. In the good time of the God Spirit, all will come to know and to understand our truth. To some it comes through many years of patient study, of examining, of probing, of seeking. To others it comes as a sudden blinding revelation, an experience which the inner self cannot deny. Such is not often the case but when it is the conviction is there, truth has been found. In just this manner, is a man you call Paul - Saul of Tarsus - come to the understanding of truth. Without knowing, he himself was a medium, something that went against all that he had been taught, all that he had ever known. ‘Thou shalt not suffer a witch to live' and to the orthodox Jews, a clairvoyant, trance medium, clairaudient was indeed a witch. Much of this has come down into the Christian religion today, so that even now mediums are reviled by many of the orthodox churches.
But Paul or Saul saw suddenly, this light, this figure of light and heard the voice calling, calling him forth: 'Why do you fight against what you know to be truth, why do you fight against that which you know you must do'. Not all of the words spoken have been recorded but it became clear to him something which in his heart he had known for a very long time, that the Spirit of God called-out to him: ‘Go out throughout this earth plane and teach men what you know of God, what you know of love'. To do so took an enormous amount of courage. Think carefully my friends and you will realize what a great and difficult thing it is to admit that all that one has believed, all that one has been taught throughout the whole of a lifetime upon earth has been a mistake. But having found truth, one must then impart it to all who are willing to hear, this is part of the price you pay for truth. Truth, knowledge carry with them a great responsibility, for once having found truth, you can no longer ignore it nor deny it, for that denial is crucifixion of, your own soul. My friends, seek carefully and know that once having found this treasure of truth, It is yours for all time.
Violence
Question. Leaving murder aside, which heinous crime that happens on this planet would you consider the worst from your side of life.
My brother, I think the destruction, the attempted destruction of the mind, of the mental balance of another human being. There are many ways in which this is attempted. So often those who are victims of violent crime and yet continue to live upon the earth plane. Do you understand? They are in a position to suffer more greatly, more deeply than those who are - as you say - murdered; sent to this world of spirit. The distress which we see within the aura and surroundings; the victims, for instance of rape are appalling. The waves of fear, of disgust, the feeling of degradation continues for many, many years afterwards. It has repercussions all throughout the life of such a woman and indeed the fear can last the whole lifetime. Blackmail too, this particularly when it is a moral blackmail; it is a frightening and evil crime. To maim, to destroy the face of a child, this too, sends waves and waves of darkness.
The earth today is no more violent than at the time of when I dwelt upon it, in fact it is far far less so. My brother, I was alive and in Rome, not in Palestine at the time when the Nazarene walked this earth; I was a member of the Roman army. I tell you, at least today we do not upon earth have the spectacles which were considered pleasurable in my time. If I tell you that during one week only of the games at Rome, more lives were lost than in both your world wars but I can assure you it is true. It was considered entertainment, not only to see men torn asunder by beasts, to see them fight to the death, to see them flayed, literally skinned alive; to see women., children raped and tortured in the arena. These things do not happen today, therefore you must count the violence less. This does not mean either that we can condone it or that you can ignore it but you cannot meet violence with violence.
If you look back through history, you will see that this has never ever been the answer. Violence breeds violence just as love will breed love. Seek to send out thoughts of understanding to the youth of this earth plane, to those yet unborn, that those who come to earth in the next few generations, shall be souls of understanding and of love. That they may outweigh, the younger spirits, the violent spirits, those who seek to spread darkness upon earth. That light may come and that in the time to come such questions that you have asked me will no longer be applicable.
A Spirit Visitor
Question. A few weeks ago I went on the other side of the River Thames to visit a site in a very well know area, which in the past was famous for its brothels, its inns, its theatres and general merrymaking and also the great plague, the bubonic plague. Well, I was quite satisfied with what I saw but a few weeks later in the afternoon of one of these hot days, I dozed-off to sleep but I was awakened after a short time by a young man who stepped back when I awoke. When I got a good look at him, I saw his face was covered in the bubos of bubonic plague and also of another horrible disease which was rampant at the time. The poor man was in a dreadful state and I 'm used to seeing unpleasant things, as you are, because I have been in nursing all my life and I 'm not afraid of that sort of thing. All I felt was an intense pity, wanting to do something for him but with that he disappeared. Now the questions are these. Why was that young man allowed to be for over three hundred years walking about in that state. Secondly, why come to me when there are people like you about to help him out of his difficulties. Thirdly, I tried to help him but have I succeeded.
Now [firstly] remember that we do not measure time. Either minutes, hours, days, years or seconds. This soul I feel is not stressed at all but came to you to show you that he was aware of your visit. Do you understand? We on this side often when returning to earth will, not exactly relive but re-clothe ourselves in the manner of our passing. Now if I was to show myself to you as I am now, you would not recognize me as being Marcus but if I came equipped as I was in the days of Rome then there would be an immediate recognition, would there not? He came to you to show you that he was aware of your presence and of your interest. Now also those who are earthbound and who truly are in need of help and assistance will often find it far easier to gain this help from a being who is yet on earth but who is likely to understand their position. This is why we hold our rescue circles because one who is bound to earth is far far nearer to earth than they are to what you may call heaven and they can relate more easily to those of you on earth who have the understanding to help them, than they can to those of us who are living already on this side of life.
Hell
Question. Could you tell me how the concept the fiery place called hell came into being and why it is accepted by the orthodox religions.
Oh it is accepted by many religions just as is heaven, a place in the sky where one sits upon clouds and plays music all day. To some upon earth that itself would appear to be hell. I think my brother I am correct in saying that in the beginning when man first began to think about life, about death, when his mind began to wander; is this the end or a beginning, a new life, continuance of this one. He conceived heaven as a place in the sky, for from there came light, came rain, came warmth, the warmth which enabled him to live. At this time too there were many volcanic eruptions; I know that still you have them today but the earth then was younger even than now, for it cannot be considered an old planet. These eruptions, these fiery furnaces destroyed many and next to the wild creatures who preyed upon man, these happenings, these disasters were the things most feared among mankind. Man then began to believe in a personal god, he had seen or some among them had seen returning spirits, had spoken to them and from there came the idea of God in the form of man, for man could not believe in anything superior to himself. Therefore God was made in the image of man and God, when these disasters occurred became a god of vengeance, one who must be placated; from this stemmed sacrifice, both human and animal and the idea that those who displeased this god would be cast into the thing they most feared, the fires of the erupting volcano. And because this fire came up from the earth the idea that hell was down there and heaven above arose.
More on The Power of Prayer
Yes my friend. It is a question we are often asked. The power of thought and the power of prayer are limitless. I know that often it seems that prayer is unanswered, that it is useless. I tell you, that a loving prayer is always heard and always answered. If each and every being was to send forth a prayer for the peace of this earth plane, for the cessation of violence and truly believe in it; send forth not merely believing but knowing that your prayer is known and recognized by the mind of God. The light created by such a unified prayer would indeed make manifest the kingdom of the God Spirit upon this earth plane. The power of prayer when it is used correctly, is the greatest power on earth. But at this point I must say something which we have said again so often, that it is important to use prayer correctly, for the right motive. It is not for instance right to pray that a soul whom you love but is suffering greatly shall be kept upon this earth plane, for that is a prayer, not for that soul but for yourself.
Selfless prayer will ask the God Spirit to relieve the suffering, no matter how, no matter if it means losing the physical presence of the one you love, for love desires the welfare of the beloved. And love knows that where it is there can be truly no parting. It is hard I know but this is truth, prayer must be selfless, it must be for service to each other and to the God Spirit. For yourselves you may. pray, Father give me the strength, the courage and the love to do Thy will. May the light that I bring to this earth plane spread to all less fortunate than I, may they see and know and recognize Thy presence and the love which through me You send to them. Let your prayers be for the peace of earth, for the understanding of mankind, for tolerance between the nations, that all men may come to the realization that they are one. That God created mankind and the earth but did not create the barriers, did not issue men with passports and visas. Man himself did this, man created violence, man created fear, man created hatred and misunderstanding.
Pray then that each soul upon earth today may seek to find the truth of God, may seek to do the will of God, that all men may be free of the yolk of hatred, of fear and of misunderstanding. This prayer if really meant by enough of you upon, earth could shake the leaders of earth, could shake the very earth itself to its foundation, for the power of prayer is without fear.
Reincarnation
Question. Good evening Marcus. What do you understand to be the real purpose of reincarnation.
There are several reasons. The purpose is the perfection of understanding. Some of us return because we have undertaken a particular task. I spoke of Paul, his was a case in point, he came to earth in order to carry understanding among those who still slaughtered, who still performed human sacrifice. He came to carry on the message which the Nazarene brought to the Jews, out across the earth plane. He needed to prove that he was strong enough to withstand ridicule, to withstand opposition. He therefore chose to enter into a very orthodox Jewish family which in time he would have to oppose to show that he was stronger than the tenets of an orthodox religion. To prove that it was possible to change ones mind and still retain ones integrity. He came for these two reasons, to prove his own strength, for in previous lives he had failed in what he set out to do and to carry out the task he had undertaken to perform.
Those who are very young in spirit need in most cases several lives upon earth, several incarnations, before they are able to absorb the learning which earth can give to man. Those who desire to teach, to help mankind, benefit greatly from living in various conditions. It is much easier to say to a soul who is suffering, in whatever way, be it physically, mentally, spiritually, be they bereaved or merely downcast, I know what you are going through; the answer so often is, but how can you. But one who has true understanding will be able to say, because my friend, I have been there also. I know because I too have suffered, I too have known privation, I have known sickness, I have known death, I have known fear; therefore I give you not merely sympathy but understanding. Those who return to earth carry within them the record of all that has happened to them, every word, every thought, every emotion, every event throughout all their lives. These things are locked within your mind and you carry them with you through every incarnation, although you may not be aware of them. As your spirit becomes more mature, as it travels farther along the pathway of spirituality, so will you find it easier to unlock the memory of these previous incarnations and to take from them that which is useful to you.
On this side of life we work together in groups and everything which is experienced by the members of that group is placed within the memory bank of the group as a whole and each one is able to draw upon it in order that the soul may gain in understanding, may gain in its knowledge and its wisdom and most of all may increase in spirituality and its nearness to the God Spirit. The aim of every soul is perfection, to perfect the karma, the pattern of life and to become as one with the mind of God. That is the reason for reincarnation. But my brother I would say to you this, each and every one of us has the right to choose our own pathway, our own way to God and reincarnation is but one method of perfecting one’s soul. It is not compulsory, it is a matter of choice.
Brain, Memory and Mind
Question. Good evening Marcus. You spoke of the memory of past incarnations, I'll call it, if I may, the collective memory. Where is that place in our etheric body; I have read that it corresponds to the upper ventricle of the heart. Is that correct.
Not really, this memory bank is within the mind itself. On tends to think of mind as being housed in the brain, do you not? And therefore say your scientists that when the brain dies so does the being. The brain is merely the physical counterpart of mind, just as the physical body clothes the spirit which is you. And when the brain dies the spirit does not and neither does mind. The memory therefore, travels not in the heart but in the mind. it is locked within the mind always and that mind is immortal within the spirit. That mind will travel with you throughout every incarnation. There are traits of personality which you will bring with you because of this memory store within the mind. The mind does not change, can you follow?
I do, I just wondered if it has a specific place, is it part of our etheric or are they two separate entities.
No. It is part of the spirit, not separate. Just as the head is part of the body so the mind is part of the spirit. I apologize for my complicated way of explaining.
Earth's Survival
Question. Can you as spirit see into what we call our future and if so can you ten me if we are going to be able to help this planet survive into the twenty-first century.
We do not see - this is rather difficult to explain - because I know that in the past events have been foretold and have come to pass. Do you understand? But what we see is a trend, a tendency. What will happen, could happen if a particular path is followed. I could for instance say that if you move from this building and you run straight out of here, straight across the road, there is a very strong likelihood that there will be an accident but all events can be changed, can be altered. Look at it in this manner, if you were above a roadway and you could see vehicles on a collision course; if you were able to say to this one, slow down, move over, that would be preventive provided the person driving were to heed your warning.
Thus it is with events upon earth, we see that man is moving in a certain direction and that that direction would cause disaster but all we can do is warn, we cannot as it were take the steering wheel, for man has freewill. Regarding your fears for the earth, I agree earth is in danger, it is in danger because man has for many generations taken and taken again. He has improved, - I would question that but - he believes he has improved his way of life but at what a cost. For a very long time there have been many on this side, indeed many on your own side of life, who have been urging man to look again, telling you that many of your diseases have come through your own abuse, both of your environment and of your physical body. Telling you that you are causing the destruction of many other species upon earth by your own wanton abuse and destruction of their way of life. I will not continue because I could go on and on and on but I will say to you that now your leaders and many of the people, shall we say, who's voices are heard upon earth, are beginning to realize exactly what has been happening and what you have all been doing to this earth.
None of us can say we are not guilty, for when I was on earth, we used earth in just such a thoughtless manner. We are guilty if we do not protest but the light is beginning to dawn and man is beginning, not only to realize the sickness of earth but that he and he alone can heal it. Yet without putting forth a prediction, I would say to you that I would feel a great hope that this earth will indeed move into the next century.
Son of Marcus
Question. Good evening Marcus. We are not supposed to ask personal questions but I hope you won't mind me asking you a personal question. I remember you telling me that your son is on earth at the present time. I wonder if you could ten us what task he has and whether you help him, or in what way you are allowed to influence him or give him advice.
No more than I am allowed to influence you or any other being upon earth. He who was my son in Rome works now behind what you call the iron curtain. He is a scientist connected with the Russian space programme and as such he is able to, help with the investigation into this world of spirit. That is his task in this incarnation. There are many - although you may not believe it - within Russia itself who are becoming increasingly aware of the power of spirit and I have said before that they will prove without any doubt the existence of our world of spirit because they are not bogged-down by orthodoxy. Therefore they are not approaching it believing that the world of spirit is something of the devil, of darkness. From there will come advancement in communication, the so-called spirit telephone. It may not be in your own lifetime but my son and others like him will have started them along the road to truth, which in turn will lead to peace. Once man has realized that the destruction of a physical body is just that, that the soul and the mind are immortal and cannot be destroyed, then will the futility of war become truly apparent.
Epilogue
My friends it is long since I have spoken with you and it is a privilege and a pleasure to be with you once more. And now if you will bear with me I will offer a prayer for your home-going.
O God our Father, Thou who art all light and all truth, let the spirit of Thee awaken with each one of these souls here present today. May they recognize Thy presence, may they feel Thy power, may they know Thy strength and Thy protection. May each of them feel impelled to follow Thee, to spread Thy word, to bring Thy peace upon this earth. Not as the peace of my time Father but Thy peace which enfolds all mankind, all living things. May each one know compassion, know love, know tolerance, may they Father find the wisdom to use their knowledge well and may they each come within the precincts of Thy kingdom, which they themselves have made manifest, here, now upon this earth. Father walk with them and guard them this night, that they may awake refreshed and strengthened by the knowledge of Thee. To Thee be all honour, all glory and all power, now and always, may it be so.
Good night my friends and God walk with you. I salute you.
