May God be with you, I give you greetings.My friends, it is again a pleasure to be present with you. This evening I will speak briefly. Today upon the earth plane there is among many a great feeling of restlessness, a great desire to learn of the God Spirit, but many have lost direction; have found that in orthodoxy whether it be Christianity or one of the other religions, there is no longer the power to bind them. There is nothing which is left to inspire the mind, to give that upliftment which man so badly needs today. We come to you with a message of hope, of light, the promise of understanding. Many among you will already have found the road to spiritual awakening; will have found the pathway which leads you to peace and tranquillity. Spiritualism - call it what you will - is knowledge, it is the surety that life is a continuing process, that death is but one stage along that road, that there is no finality but indeed eternal life. Each one among you must find your own group., your own faith. Remember it was said: 'blessed are they who have seen and believed', but also, ‘blessed are they who have not seen and yet believed'.
Much in religion, by whatever name it may be called, must remain mysterious, must be a conjecture, for until you experience, it is we know, difficult to accept, difficult to believe. The experience of another is not a proof to you, however honest they may be. It must be something that comes from within, which convinces you, which gives you the power and the right to say: not I believe, but I know. Once you have discovered this faith, my friends never deviate from it, be steadfast in your belief, in your faith. Always adhering to that which you yourselves know to be true. This earth plane today is in great need of your knowledge, in great need of the wisdom which comes from the knowledge given by the power of the God Spirit. Too much has been said today of material gain, of material power, but all that pertains to material power is ephemeral, it passes as r does the light of day. The only thing which is immortal is the power which lies within you, the power of God, the Spirit of Life. For this power is immutable, it does not change as does the physical form of you, with age, with sorrow, with pain. It is eternal, because it is part of the God Spirit Itself.
The earth itself is changing daily and man is at last beginning to come to the understanding that he cannot interfere and change what the God Spirit has ordained without harm to himself. He cannot continue to change his environment and remain upon earth. Many of you today are beginning to realize the truth of this, to realize that earth was not placed here merely for the benefit of mankind, that it must be cherished, treasured and nurtured with love. Life upon earth is a relationship, because you are part of all creation. Mankind, earth itself is but a small place but important. Man must learn to value not only himself but the rest of creation, must learn to live in harmony and in peace. Once you learn to live with each other, let your light shine among men, let Spiritualism become known for its unity, for its love, for the presence of God which is within it. Let all of you determine that your belief, your knowledge shall spread light upon this earth plane, no matter how dark the corner in which you may dwell, if your light can bring joy and beauty to it. Let your tolerance and your compassion for others be a byword among your companions, ensure that where there is friction you will seek not to spread it, rather to pour balm, oil upon the troubled waters, bring calm and bring peace. Try in your own way to let truth shine forth from you, try to show you fellow beings their responsibility towards each other, towards the God Spirit and towards earth as a whole. Try to think of earth as another being; you dwell, you tread upon this earth and you do not heed it. How often do you truly concern yourselves about this planet. When I last moved upon earth, my people believed that the earth was sacred, that none could own earth for it belonged to the Spirit of Life, but when you trod upon the earth you trod a sacred path. That for a little while this path was lent to you, a path which gave you learning, which gave you understanding, which led you to the heart of God. We treasured earth, we treasured the creatures that moved upon it.
Today, man too often seeks to improve upon nature, not because he believes he is God, but all too often for material gain. My friends this path leads not to God but to disaster. You have before you an example, many of you are feeling fear because of the disease among your cattle, this is something which has been brought about by man and man alone. You have taken creatures, gentle and harmless, those who lived only upon herbage and you have fed them the remains, of dead creatures, something quite alien to them and it is this and this alone which has brought death and destruction. Man has indeed much to answer for, for this is but one example. You have polluted and destroyed the earth and many of its creatures, but gradually man is beginning to realize the error he has committed. That you, all of you, be in the forefront of this new understanding, realize that you must be at one with the God Spirit and with all created life. For if you harm and destroy, if you try to mutate the creatures of this earth, my friends it will inevitably rebound upon yourselves. Let all who have understanding, let their voice be heard, let it be the voice of love, of light and of compassion. You are blessed in your knowledge, let others too receive this blessing and in giving out your love, give healing also to this earth.
Marriage
Question. Could you tell me please, when a person decides to marry, is the partner they choose preordained before they are born, or is it just chance.
Nothing my sister is preordained. Each one of you has the power of freewill. It may be that prior to coming to earth you will attempt to renew a relationship - do you understand? - which you have known through many ages. But certainly no event whatsoever is preordained. Everything you do or think or say is your own responsibility. When sometimes you feel an instant affinity towards another human being, it is very possible that that person you have known through many incarnations. But because you are close or even because you are twin souls, it does not mean that you will necessarily be present upon earth at the same time. Very often one will watch over the other, those who are close, who are as we term it, twin souls. But the God Spirit, the hierarchy of His messengers do not preordain. Both your good deeds and your errors are your own, the law of God, the primary law, is that of sowing and reaping. No one can accept responsibility for your actions or for your decisions but yourself.
Know Thyself
Question. A lot is written and talked about ‘Know Thyself'. How do we go about doing this and can we achieve it.
It is possible my brother, yes. Because to understand another, you first indeed must know yourself. It means examining your own mind, it means admitting your errors, your faults and failings and also your attributes. All too often close examination ends with confession of guilt for every small, real, large or imagined, sin that you may have committed. What is important is to recognize where you were wrong and to admit it, but never to continuously dwell upon it. It is a plan to write down the debit and the credit, to see written what you think are your and what you think are your virtues. How do they balance, what, if anything do you need to change, to improve. But when you feel that you understand what you have written, you feel that it is perhaps a reasonable assessment of your own character. Then if you are sufficiently courageous, ask one or two of those close to you to do the same. Do this without saying how you yourself feel, without showing what you yourself have written and compare the various assessments. It is always enlightening to say the least, to discover another's opinion of oneself if it be an honest opinion. Never be afraid to receive criticism or to accept praise, provided it is constructive and it is honest. Never underestimate the power within you, seek always to encourage the growth of that power, for that is the power of God, the voice of the God Spirit which struggles all too often to be heard against the voice of materialism.
Learn to accept yourself as you are. Perhaps there is either little or much that needs alteration, but see to it. Learn to love yourself, not in a selfish way, not so that you become as Paul would have put it: ‘trussed-up', but realize that you, too are a part of this universe and you too have a right to be here, the right to be heard, the right to discover yourself and your own spirituality. For if you cannot love yourself, then you cannot love your fellow beings either and if you do not love yourself or the rest of creation, then you do not love the God Spirit, for the God Spirit is present in all these things. You cannot separate yourself from God, for the Spirit of Life is in you. Learn to expand your own personality, to spread the wings of power, to consciously recognize that God is indeed within you. Once you have learned that, once you have learned to examine the motive for your actions, then my brother you have begun to know yourself.
Ambiguity
[Question. Very often the same word can have a different meaning. How would the spirit world advise us on this problem in relation to teaching and learning].
This is something which has always presented difficulties among mankind. On this side of life we prefer to communicate by means of thought alone, transference of thought which leaves a great less room for misunderstanding. My brother Fu who does not speak in public, has said in circle that words are indeed the most dangerous weapon that man can wield. I know that some of you win have understood what I have said already this evening, but others trying to repeat it will miss the point entirely because they will have misinterpreted the very words that I chose. Unfortunately upon earth there is no other way than the use of words. We try therefore, to keep what we say, as simple and as direct as possible. On this side of life in our schools, our halls of learning, we do have one great advantage; those who come to learn, never cease to question, are not afraid to admit that they have not understood. Do you follow me? One way in which you can yourself cheek that what you have said has been understood is to ask those' whom you attempt to teach, to tell you what you have just said.
It is very very common among men that what is said is misunderstood. This applies not only to words but to music; to many other forms of communication. To one it will sound a certain way and to another entirely different. This too creates difficulty for clairvoyant and clairaudient mediums. It is so easy to misinterpret what they are hearing, to put ever so slightly a different inflection, emphasis upon a word. For this can change the whole meaning of a phrase or a sentence. One needs always to take very great care in the way one delivers one's ideas How often have you heard it said by someone intensely hurt: 'it isn't what they said, it is the way that they said it', something we all would do well to remember. And something I would say again to you, quoting once more my friend Fu. Those of you who know us will have heard this before, that he said once: ‘Remember, not only words but thoughts are things, if you wish harm to another being, then you may as well commit the deed. If your thought is to strike them, then it is done. Therefore do not only think before you speak, but stop and think before you think, before you send out that thought which never can be recalled'.
My friends remember, nothing, no action, no word can be either repeated or taken back. I lift this hand, this action is there, I cannot repeat that particular action, neither can I take it back. Take care then always in your words and in your thoughts.
Corn Circles
Question. There seem to be a number of mysterious circles and rings forming in southern England. Is there any spiritual significance behind this. [See also Chapter 8].
There's always been lines, forces of power. You understand? The ring and the circle, some of them yes, are of the light. They are expressions of power and some are linked with powers as yet unknown to man. Those who seek to preserve this planet, to keep its place within the universe and seek to prevent man from destroying himself; they are indeed circles of power, they are given for the benefit of mankind. Because of the influence which has been brought to bear upon you - not you as a person, but upon earth - there is a reawakening among mankind, the desire for the new age to bring peace and to bring light.
There are, whether you accept it or not, many forms of life throughout this universe, not necessarily life as you would recognize it, but life and presence and power. Because your instruments, your space probes do not see life, physical life as you would recognize it, this does not mean it does not exist. Unless you are clairvoyant you do not see me, you see merely the form of the medium which I have borrowed. We in the world of spirit move in a faster vibration than you upon earth, so it is upon many of the so-called uninhabited planets. That life is there, intelligence is there and some of it far far more advanced than we who dwell upon earth and its surrounding spheres. These beings use the circles and the lines of power as points of contact, they are becoming more evident because many among you are becoming more aware of your own spirituality and in time open contact win be made. There is much to be learned and much to be gained from this otherworldly contact. Let us be sure that when it occurs, man has the wit to realize its worth.
Personal Spirituality
Question. Are we speaking to Marcus this evening.
No my brother, you are speaking to Manyomin, who was a Red Indian.
I see. Now during your lecture you mentioned that we should develop our inner forms of spirituality. Can you give us some method of doing that.
I can tell you the method which my people used and shall we say, Jesus the Nazerene also used, but it may not be practical to carry out in its entirety today. To develop our vision, as we call it, those of us who were called to do so, first use a ritual of cleansing - both outwardly and inwardly - the physical body. Following this we went alone into - in the case of my people - the sacred hills, the black hills, one walked alone until the place became apparent, do you understand? We would walk through what you may call the wilderness and suddenly one would realize that here was the place in which one would find oneself, one's vision, one’s spirituality and there we would lie, fasting and alone with the nature which' gives life. We would then try to empty the mind of thought, of desire; to still the body, to forget the discomfort, the need for food and for drink, to lift the spirit beyond the confines of the physical body. To become aware that you, the essential you was indeed immortal, untouchable, that the physical is but a clothing. There we would stay until the vision of light which was unique to each individual, was given and the voice of God was heard.
Now we, my people, knew nothing of Christianity, but we did recognize that all things are related and related to God the Great Spirit. Jesus the Nazarene, walked it is said forty days and forty nights in the desert. You see my brother, although this may not be possible in your civilized world, yet solitude and silence are necessary, both to know yourself and to develop your spiritual awareness. The Lord Buddha also left all that he had and walked forth alone into the forest until the revelation came, the way, the pathway which led to the kingdom of God. You cannot, unless for a little while you relinquish the material side of life, gain this complete understanding of God. Your own vision is there for you, waiting to be revealed.
Guides' Origins
Question. Could you tell me why so many guides of mediums tend to come from either North America or China and not from other countries, say Belgium or Argentina or any other country.
Very often my brother because those from the eastern countries had a greater understanding of the mysticism. You feel that your European civilization, the western world is all powerful. In technicalities, yes it may be, but in pure spiritual understanding it is way far behind. Always in the eastern civilizations, there's been many great thinkers, there were in Greece, even in Rome. But where are the great ones in this country of yours in, as you say, Belgium, Germany or Holland; Norway? The great religious leaders, most of them, have come from far older civilizations, but do remember that race, colour, country count very little on this side of life. Remember also that most of us have experienced life in many countries, many incarnations. It is usually the last incarnation that we normally bring back. Do you understand? The Chinese in particular have always had a very great understanding of the complexity, the mysteries of spirituality. But in truth, those very complexities are simple. And my people being American Indians, understood the relationship to nature, which many of you have lost today. We did not study metaphysics, we did not complicate our lives. We accepted that we were merely a part of nature and therefore a part of God. We did not question Him, as so many do today. It was life and death itself was part of life.
Those of you who know me, will know how my people prayed each day to the God Spirit. We prayed to the four winds, the four directions of earth. Every day, every morning was opened with thanksgiving to the God Spirit. We did not fear death, but always were ready to receive it, saying in our prayers always: 'Father. this is a good day to live, it is a good day to die'. Man today has so many more fears than we did and I think perhaps, that is why so many of us who come "1 from the so-called savage nations, because we accepted the will of God, we accepted the message without complicating it. We did not ask why, we said merely, if it be Thy will, so be it. We followed the path, the path which led us inevitably back to the Spirit of Life.
Geographical Areas
Question. Is it feasible for you to. say, give another lecture in Australia tomorrow.
Feasible yes, but I will not. [Laughter]. This medium is my medium. We indeed are very close to each other and although it is possible, it is something I would not desire. My brother Marcus however, does in fact use another medium in what was his native land - Italy. There is no reason why we cannot use another medium, although I must qualify this and say to you that it does very often take A guide many of your years to find the right person, the right medium upon earth, for one does need to have a certain affinity with that instrument. It would be very difficult to express ideas which were directly opposed to those of the medium. Although we do not always agree, she and I, but in the main the spiritual. outlook is the same or similar. Do you understand?
Further question. Can you communicate with your medium when she is awake.
I can.
Does she know it is you, or would she think it might be another one?
Oh no, she knows it is I. For we are truly close and have been throughout life, throughout the incarnations. You understand? Sometimes we have been present on earth together and other times it has been I upon earth and she who was left behind. In fact during my last incarnation this medium helped and guided me from the spirit side of life and was present at my passing. Marcus has also been close, for we are of the same group on this side of life. And this my medium, came to this earth plane as the daughter of another medium who will not be known to many of you here, but came with the purpose of being allowed [here a word in another language] or allowing the body which would clothe her spirit to be used for this purpose, teaching and spreading the philosophy, the truth to mankind.
Blocking Communication
Question. Can you prevent the spirit from making contact with you.
Prevent? How do you mean my brother?
Can you prevent the spirit contacting you when you are asleep or in another situation where you may not wish contact?
But of course. If my medium now desired to come back, an she need say is Manyomin leave. I have borrowed this body, but I say to you now, to all of you, there is nothing on this earth or in the world of spirit that can harm you or take over your body unless you allow it to do so. All you need to say is no. When we have cases brought to us of so-called possession for exorcism, this is all that is necessary, but it is very very difficult to convince the person; those who are weak-willed, that all they need to say is: ‘go, out, away'. Nothing be it good or evil can control you if you deny it access. Do you understand? We cannot contact unless you desire and if something which is of the darkness comes close to you then, as my medium would say: 'send it packing'. Go, in the name of God leave me, leave my aura, leave the field of my vision, go. You have within you, each and every one of you, freewill and you have the power to admit or to deny access or communication.
Re-encounters
Question. Whenever you come through your medium to speak to us, have you ever recognized anyone in the audience whom you have known or met before in a previous incarnation.
On occasions my brother, yes. There are many that I have contacted that have been upon earth at various times, with myself or with my medium and this too is for an advanced spirit something that is easily recognizable. Do you understand? You feel this instant rapport, atonement with another being and if you care to roll back your incarnations, to bring forth the memory, as some of you do, do it independently, as you will often find that your memories coincide. I know that my medium and many of our group have done this; recorded what they have recalled and then compared the various memories. And they have created very often a story and the links have been very apparent. It is always a pleasure to recognize one with whom one has travelled the road of earth.
Double Check
Question. Your previous answers answer some of my questions. Some people can cheek, is it wrong to cheek with the other plane, is it selfish or can you use that to come back and help other people here.
No it is not wrong because you are gaining experience, you are gaining power. It is only by developing every facet of your spiritual nature that you gain the insight necessary to assist others who are perhaps floundering along the pathway. All knowledge is of use, every experience is of use. Never feel that by learning, by setting yourself apart perhaps in order to study, to meditate or to learn, you are being selfish. For your gain is the gain of those whom you contact, it is the gain of others in your group; for as you may or may not know, we work on this side of life in groups, the groups meet and exchange ideas, but the members of the group pool all their knowledge in order that each and every one of you may gain from the experience of others. Everything is inter-linked, cannot be separate, so what you gain others also gain, what you learn others also learn. Do you understand? Expansion of light, that is what we seek. That the light which each of you has within you, grows, flows out from you, reaches your fellow beings, reaches the whole earth. You have a paean which I have heard my medi [medium] say, it ends: land the earth shall be filled with the glory of God, as the waters cover the seal. Now let your light flow out thus and imagine it, the light, the knowledge, the upliftment, the truth flowing out from you, each one as individuals, to cover the earth with the glory and the knowledge of God.
Muscular Atrophy
Question. Good evening Manyomin. I am told that muscular atrophy is a genetic disorder. what is the best treatment for it.
Move back the generations and live wisely my brother. [Laughter]. So many of your diseases upon earth are the sins of the father visited upon the children. For generations and generations man has lived unwisely and abused the physical body, has fed it the wrong food and this and many other diseases are the result. The best treatment, internally a change of diet and you know the right one; that without flesh. To cleanse the body, as Medicine man would have told you, to drink not your brews of tea and coffee but clear water and to cleanse, to drink it almost as if it comes through straight. Do you understand? There are many muscle strengthening preparations given by nature. There is dolomite, there is grape juice - unfermented - there is the oil which also strengthens muscle power. These are the internal remedies.
Externally use again olive oil mixed, unfortunately with juice from onions or from garlic. This enables the oil to reach the muscles; massaged into the muscles. The power of the garlic and the onions open the pours and drive the oil within. It is much more potent applied thus; that combined with healing should assist. Wherever possible we will attempt to cure, to restore the flexibility to the muscular system, but it does depend on the severity of the cases at the commencement of healing. Do you understand? All too often the cases which are referred to healers come only when they have despaired of all other treatment, come only when they have reached a terminal stage. And then it is said that healing is all in the mind, it is useless, with scant regard to the fact that orthodox methods also have failed and do fail, but nevertheless the power of healing is great.
Many of you will be able to appreciate, that healing like all other medication must be applied. Medicines whether they be herbs or drugs are useless if they remain upon the shelf. All too often a patient will say, this is doing no good, but you must with all treatment, whether it be from healers or your medical doctors, give time, patience is such a necessary part of all healing; all forms of healing. Spiritual healing often is slower, we do not often show you the dramatic cures which so many seek. You will not see a dramatic improvement as you will with some of your so-called wonder drugs, but the treatment that is given by spirit is in the end far more effective, albeit much slower, because we work not always on the symptoms but on the root cause of your illness and believe me there is a vast difference.
Epilogue
My friends it has been both a privilege and a pleasure to have spoken with you and I do hope that my words have spread some light upon your problems and your difficulties. And now will you bear with me while I close with a prayer to the God Spirit.
O Great Spirit, Thou who sends light and life upon this earth plane. You who give us the light of the sun, who give us the rain, who give us the wind to scatter the seed upon the earth. You who nurture all things, who care for us Thy children, who care for the earth on which we dwell. Give us Thy light O Father, illumine the pathway, the trail across the desert that the wind of Thy love fan the flame in our hearts. Let us see and know Thy presence, that each one here become aware of Thee, may their ears be opened to hear Thy voice. May their ills become less, may their joys be increased and may they feel upon themselves the hand of Thy love and when the time comes Father for them to enter into Thy kingdom, may they walk without fear through the portals of death and may they say, as did I, it is indeed my brother a good day to die. For in dying I am reborn, born to the light, born to the truth, born into the glory of the presence of my Father the God Spirit.
May you go in peace my brethren, may you walk the path of the God Spirit and may each of you find a way to make manifest the kingdom of God within your hearts, now and always. Good night my friends and may God walk with you.
