I give you greetings, May God be with you.My friends, this earth plane at the present time is in a considerable turmoil. Many of you are concerned as to the outcome. This we cannot predict but I say to you this, no matter how dark or how evil a being may appear to you, one cannot fight darkness with darkness. It behoves all of us, all of you, to send forth not feelings of fear or of hatred, of horror or disgust but of love. All through the ages the wise and the great teachers have taught this. You cannot fight evil with evil, but if you send light, if you seek to raise the darkest ones out of their darkness and into the light, then you are using a positive weapon. This earth has been through many such problems, but the time is coming when men shall be free, free of the darkness, free of despair, free of fear. And this freedom must come to each one as individuals. You cannot always say, they. Too often we hear it said, they do this or they do that, the government should, or the government should not. But what you must realize is that the nation is made-up of its people and that the earth plane is made-up of the various nations. So often we have told you, each and every one of you is important. There is no fame on this side of life, except the fame of the light bringers, those who bring light into their lives and into the lives of those around them.
This problem, this danger to earth, it can be averted, but it needs each and every one who has the knowledge, to use that knowledge, to use that wisdom, to use that power of light. In the old book of the Jews, it is said in one place: 'I have no pleasure at all, that the wicked should die, says the Lord, but rather that they should turn from their ways and live'. And so it is my friends, never seek the destruction of another being, no matter how evil their deeds may appear to you, but ask always that they shall be turned again from the darkness into the light. The earth is beginning to awaken, this we have long being telling you, but it is coming, this light and this understanding. Everyone of you has the ability to develop your spirituality, to develop the power within yourselves. Each one of you has the ability to forgive and forgiveness next to the love of the God Spirit, is one of the greatest virtues a being can possess.
You cannot annu1 the deeds of another, you cannot absolve them, for they are, as you are, responsible for their own deeds; but where there is hurt to yourself, you can offer love, you can offer forgiveness. We do not suggest that you condone evil, but rather that you seek to rectify it. You do not rectify it by meting-out punishment, you do not rectify it by sitting in judgement, but rather by trying to educate, trying to show by your love that there is a better way. The time for you with knowledge is now, it is here, you have a greater opportunity to change the course of events upon this earth. You have the ability and you have the opportunity to show by your own lives that this is indeed the true pathway and that the knowledge and the wisdom is there for all men. It is not confined to one nation, to one religion, it is universal. We have seen with distress that even within this movement there are divisions, those who follow one way of thought and who condemn others. My friends this is wrong, totally wrong. The belief, the following of one particular leader, does not exclude you from believing in Spiritualism. There are many, even within orthodoxy, who yet will accept that there is a continuity of life, that communication with our spirit world is possible. Should they we excluded from you meetings or from your churches? Heal the rift within your own movement, heal the rift within your own nation. Meet opposition with words of sweetness and of light; never seek to compel another to believe as you do. Show them by your example, that your belief, that your knowledge is worth investigation. Too often, not only in this but in other fields also, those who are seeking, those who show interest are turned away because of dogmatism. You cannot be dogmatic no matter how strong your knowledge or belief, for others have a right to their opinion and a right to express it. Discussion is always to be desired, for in discussing and dissecting other ideas we learn, there is always much to be learned. None of us knows all that is truth and there is good in every religion, there is good in many ways of thinking. Half of the troubles throughout this world today is caused by mans' intolerance. There are no such things as holy wars, for to the God Spirit, war is abhorrent. It is love and peace that brings the kingdom of God within your hearts and that love and that peace cannot be held within yourselves, it is to be shared, to be given in turn to those around you. Let others share in your tranquillity, let others seek the reason for it and thus they too shall be climbing the first steps on the way of truth, the way of light, the way of understanding.
Saddam Hussein
Question. You mentioned the turmoil at present in the world. Are you aware exactly of what is going on.
Oh yes my friend, we are.
Further question. How does one attempt peace with a man like Saddam Hussein. How can we remove someone like him peacefully.
The only way my brother is the way in which I have directed you. It is to, as it were, to bombard this man with your thoughts. Now this to you may seem ineffective, because you cannot directly see the result. It is not as though you could go and end the life of this man, for I tell you that is not possible and if you did, what good would it do. You would be releasing a spirit, turbulent, resentful and filled with darkness and hatred, to where it could influence more and more. There are always those upon earth, ready to do violence, those who enjoy the turmoil of warfare, who are cruelly disposed, they are young spirits, they are mistaken, they need help and education. The thoughts of many turned toward this man in hatred will only serve to steel his purpose. Do you understand me?
Further question. What will be the outcome.
I cannot tell you the outcome, but I can tell you, that thought directed . . . if you find it impossible to try to send love, recognizing that however dire the deeds of a human being may be, yet still within them, albeit buried deep, there is the seed of love, there is the Spirit of God. For all of you are a part of the God Spirit as the God Spirit lies also with you. What you need to do is to imagine your thoughts as a being entering the aura of this man, entering the mind and the spirit and finding there the Spirit of God, trying to nurture it, trying to feel that you are turning, that you are bringing him the realization of light. You are otherwise utterly helpless as individuals to do anything at all. There is, I can tell you a hope, certainly on this side, there is a glimmering of light, because there is a realization, albeit not apparent within this man that the position into which he has brought himself is not truly tenable at all. There is a vulnerability and if all of you who have this knowledge could work upon that, then there is indeed a chance that he will climb down, even though it be a little. A fall, especially at this stage will cause untold destruction and it will not truly solve your problem.
Suffering in Old Age
Question. Why is it that so many people in old age suffer so much physically and also suffer from senile dementia and what is the point of their remaining on earth.
Because the spirit will only leave the body when it becomes no longer habitable and you confuse very often the mental state with the state of the spirit within. The brain is a physical organ and it is the brain which deteriorates, which causes the aberrations of the mind, but that again is only the physical expression, because the spirit within is lucid and untouched by the physical problems. It is just the same with those whom you call mentally handicapped, they may appear to you to be retarded in mind and even in body, but the spirit can still progress, it can still think quite clearly within the mutilated mind, [brain] as it were.
As to physical suffering, not all end in this way but there are many reasons, there are many reasons for the diseases upon earth, most of which have been caused in the beginning by the misuse of earth, by the creatures dwelling upon it. Man, for very many years has misused the physical body. Many of your diseases are they say, hereditary, but in the beginning they were caused in most cases by man himself. Too often your living conditions are wrong, they are unnatural as is the diet of very many of you and it is not just now, because man now gradually is beginning to be aware of the causes of disease. But for many generations bodies have been misused and this perhaps is the true meaning of the saying that: 'the sins of the fathers shall be visited upon the children'. Not by the God Spirit, but by themselves. I can assure you that the spirit win leave the body when the time is right.
Astral Travel
Question. During our time of sleep do we travel to the spirit world and visit the halls of learning. I notice that if I pray at night I sleep better, does that mean that in sleep I contact my loved ones and do they escort us to these places of learning.
Many questions in one my brother. Yes, you do travel; you do not always remember, but I would say, not many of you would travel to the halls of learning . Rather we use you - shamefully - because very often those who pass to this side of life with no knowledge of an afterlife or an active disbelief, find it very difficult to adjust. Many of them becoming what you would call earthbound spirits - that of course is what I am according to some sources - but we find that those of you in your sleep state, because you are still on the earth are better able to help these souls to come to the realization of their condition than we on this side of life. Can you follow this? And we do use many of you in this respect. We use you also to awaken those whose spirit had needed long rest when coming to this side of life. Those too who have arrived here through violence and therefore are distressed, we use you to help them back to earth, to see their loved ones, to realize, because it can be just as distressing for the newly awakened soul as it is for those who are bereaved, they too, we all however much we may know before passing, miss those left upon earth.
Just because you come to this side of life does not mean that you are not still human beings, as we also are. You still have emotions, you still have love and you feel the sorrow of parting, but what can ease it for the soul coming here is that with patience they are able to revisit their loved ones, to see them and hopefully to make them [those of us on earth] aware of their presence, even though they may, not be able to see or to hear. But have you not, any of you, felt at times that there is someone there. You know the presence, even though you cannot consciously see it. You are of great use to us, but we do also allow you meet those whom you have loved and lost, until you can rejoin them upon this side.
Further comment by questioner. It would be a good thing then if we were early to bed and late to rise, then we would have more time in your world. [Laughter].
We do not measure time my brother. But it is just as well, for my medi is always late to bed and early to rise.
Belief and Knowledge
Question. What advice would you give to someone who would be unable to accept Spiritualism as a creed or belief but who is receptive to evidence or proof.
My brother, this is quite unimportant. One does not need to accept a creed or really a belief, because each one of you must come to proof for yourselves. The evidence received by another being cannot ever be proved except to that one being. You might say, I have seen so and so, which is proof to you but not to another. It is to them hearsay. The advice I would give is that with a clear and. open mind they investigate, they seek for themselves. For those who seek with truth, who seek wisdom as well as proof will surely be given it. Never, as I have said so many times, seek to impose your belief or your knowledge upon another. Offer what you have learned and then let them decide for themselves whether they wish to go on to try to traverse the same or similar pathway. Spiritualism is not merely a creed, the creed, the seven principles, whatever, are unimportant. What is important is your way of living, your courage in the face of adversity, your courage in the face of death. For you know that life goes on. Once you have proved for yourself, then it becomes no longer a belief but a sure and certain knowledge. And if you can pass on that knowledge to another, then let them decide, let them seek until they can be sure for themselves and they too can find knowledge. So that when questioned you do not say, I have faith or I believe, but I know, for to myself I have proved it. Why do you not do likewise?
The Christ Spirit
Question. My question is on incarnation. I have reduced this vast subject to a simple sentence, that incarnation is one spirit inhabiting one body for a life span and that body is usually an infant. We believe that at baptism the Christ Spirit entered the body of Jesus and left it at the ninth hour on the cross, therefore where was Jesus' own spirit - the one he was born with - when the Christ Spirit entered and during the three years of his ministry.
My brother, this is not quite correct. Jesus the Nazerene came to this earth, not as the son of God, but as a man, like you or like I was, an ordinary human being. but it was a spirit, an old spirit you might say, one of the shining ones who came expressly for the purpose of giving hope, giving light, giving healing to the Jewish people, who were and had been for many years sorely oppressed. It was said that he was executed because he sought to lead the Jews in an uprising, nothing could be further from the truth. Jesus came to give hope and to prevent bloodshed. I was not present upon earth at that time but I know that the love which that being gave was wonderful and great, he was and is a great and shining light. The Christ Spirit is something which is within, it is within all beings, it is the Spirit of Life, but those who have become spiritually great have learned how to expand and nurture. Where orthodoxy fails is that it cannot accept - and the early Christians did - that Jesus was a man and not a God. It was only later that men tried to say that he was the only begotten son of God because they needed to match the heathen religions. This was mistaken, because I tell you and Marcus would tell you, that Jesus was something far far more.
If a god should come to earth, then how can any ordinary human being hope to copy them. Jesus showed them what was possible with love and with devotion, he was a very great and very wonderful medium, he developed first by self denial his spirituality and this I would say to all of you who aspire to mediumship, is the first and most necessary step. To become aware of the spirit within you, then the psychic gifts, whatever they may be will follow, but Jesus had the gift of seeing, of hearing, of trance and of materialization. He was versatile and filled with love for all mankind and that too is an essential part of true ministry; love no matter what. But the Christ Spirit is there in such people from birth and it is with all of them. They, Jesus, The Lord Buddha, Mohamed - if he is truly interpreted found the key to developing, to bringing it forth, to being at one with the God Spirit in them.
The Dove
Question. Is the story of the dove hovering above the head of Jesus a fact.
It would not have been a dove but the light would have been there, but that does not mean that the Christ Spirit entered at that moment. It is symbolic.
Possession
Question, Jesus is said to have cast out of one single man a legion of spirits. Where was this man's own spirit while this legion of spirits possessed his body.
Wandering as my medium is now. [Laughter]. But I will say this on this point of possession and those of you who know us well will have heard this before. It is only the weak in spirit and in will who can be possessed. If you have strength of mind there is nothing on this side of life that can in any way harm you and enter into your body, unless you allow it. All that is necessary is to say, go. This is my body, it is in my keeping, the house of my spirit and you cannot enter unless I give you permission. But I tell you now, that if my medium were to return at this moment and say Manyomin out, out I must go.
Where is she now?
Just outside the aura in the astral.
Life on Other Planets
Question. Is there life on other planets.
This is a question my brother that we have answered many times. Certainly there is life on other planets, some of it similar in form to those upon earth, but on other planets, various forms. Even upon those which your scientists say cannot support life, but what they really mean is, cannot support life as you know it upon earth. They do say after all, that we do not exist, because they cannot feel us, they cannot see us. We in the world of spirit move at a different rate of vibration to you upon earth and that is why we are able to pass through solid matter, why so-called ghosts have been seen to walk through walls. So it is upon these other planets, where there apparently is no life, there is life, but it is not visible to mankind or to his instruments because it is a different form and is moving at a different rate of vibration. There are planets on which there is life far more advanced than upon earth; those who have already discovered the way of the God Spirit and brought to perfection their dwelling, upon wherever they may be.
There are other planets where life is in a similar stage of development to your own and of course there are those who are yet beginning. But the whole universe teems with life, for there is no death. And each planet has its own spheres, as does earth; the spiritual spheres surrounding it. So far as we know, the purpose of the universe is to perfect life and knowledge, in whatever form, within every place throughout the universe, until the pattern is perfected and the kingdom of God is spread over all. But this is theory my brother, it still remains, to some extent a mystery which only the mind of God can know.
Forgiveness
Question. You spoke earlier of the importance of forgiveness. Some days when somebody has hurt us and we feel perhaps light in spirit and we are able to forgive them and perhaps the next day we feel heavier in spirit and we feel that we haven't forgiven them at all. Can you advise on how we can forgive completely.
Forgiveness does not necessarily mean forgetting. That is the main problem. It is a similar one to Marcus my friend discoursing on love and saying you must love all things. Then someone mentioned a relative whom they particularly disliked, and Marcus said: 'but I asked you to love them, I did not say you had to like them'. And it is very similar with forgiving. You are human, all of you and you have human emotions and this we understand, we do not judge, but if you try consciously to say to yourself, I cannot perhaps forget this incident, forget this hurt, for it has gone deep and it will scar me, but nevertheless I will forgive. And when you feel again resentment, try to repeat this almost as a prayer. And do not initially try to forget, but it may well be that as time goes on you'll find that you have.
Manyomin
Question. It seems strange sitting here, hearing questions, hearing answers and wondering who is talking to us and who this person was in his or her own life, or are we not supposed to know.
I am Manyomin. In my last time upon earth I was a Teton Oglala Sioux and my name was Crazyhorse. I was a leader, some have called me a war leader of my people. But in truth I was a medium, a spiritual leader first and foremost. Yes, my people fought because we were driven to it. No matter how we tried to avoid war with the white man, in the end it became inevitable, for we were forced by starvation to turn. Every treaty that we signed was broken. When the white man came they were welcomed and our people shared, but that was not enough, they demanded more and more and drove us further and further from our land.
I will not go into all the details, but there were many many massacres of our women and our children. They were poisoned, they were given blankets contaminated with a disease you call smallpox, something unknown among our people which decimated them. The whole purpose was to destroy the Indian nation. They asked for our hills, our sacred hills and I said then: 'You cannot sell the land upon which the people walk', which to us was holy, a place where we communed with spirit. As sacred to us as the Christian cathedrals to the white man. But when we fought, we lost and I came to this world of spirit through the treachery of one of my own, who murdered me when on a mission to meet and talk with the white man. And now you know who I am.
Red Indian Guides
Question. How is it that there are so many Red Indian guides. Is it because they were very spiritual people and understood Spiritualism more.
Well yes, I think we did, as also did the Egyptians. You see we then were very close to nature, we realized the Spirit of God within all things. When we killed for food we recognized the Spirit of God within that creature and we prayed for its release to the world of spirit. We thanked it and thanked the God Spirit for giving us sustenance. Also we used every part of it, not as you do today and we slaughtered in a fair way. We did not herd our animals and allow them to trust us. It was indeed man against beast. Do you understand? Therefore there was not the resentment from the animal kingdom that there is today.
The Egyptians too, as Mayet Ptah will tell you did not worship animals, but they worshipped the God Spirit within and used these symbols in order to make the very simple peasant people come to the realization of this universality of spirit. That spirit does not dwell in man alone but in every cell of life upon this earth and so should every cell of life be treated with reverence and with compassion. For God dwells there as God dwells in you. We in this world of spirit, desire only to help, to give you love, to give you light, to lift you, to set your feet upon what in my country we knew as the sacred path.
Crazyhorse
Question. Crazyhorse. There must have been a reason why you were known as Crazyhorse, what was it.
Now that really is the translation of my name, the name was Tashunka Witko in Sioux, but what it really meant was lively, dancing almost and this name, I will have to explain. When in those days a child was born it was given only a baby name, a temporary name and as we grew to adulthood we were expected to undergo an initiation. This meant fasting and cleansing and teaching by the wise man of the tribe and then we would go out alone into the hills, until we felt that this was the place of vision and we would lie alone, fasting until the vision came. Now some they say it was a hallucination but always it was great shame if one did not see the vision, but it was something that believe it or not you could not fake, for the Medicine man, the holy man of the tribe would know. And my vision was of a piebald dancing horse and this gave my name which the white man interpreted as Crazyhorse.
Human Imperfections
Question. When a person passes to spirit, do they take with them all of their human imperfections; greed, jealousy, hatred, pride, lack of forgiveness. Do these persist.
Yes my brother, I am afraid they do. You see what you have been upon earth, what you have spun for yourself, determines where you shall dwell in the world of spirit. Now I will say again for those who do not know. There is no hall of judgement, there is no jury, there is no punishment for misdeeds performed upon earth, but you yourselves are the judges and the jury. And you form your own heaven or your own hell. For if you have dwelt in darkness upon earth, if you have made unpleasantness for those around you, if you have left, so that having left others say, thank God, then you will not be able to dwell in light. Not because God so wills it or we so will it, but because your spirit would be incapable of bearing the light. It is like taking a fish and placing it upon the river bank, it would gasp for air, it would die. The spirit must dwell in the region it had made appropriate for itself, until it begins to realize that there should be something better, until it asks for help, we cannot give it. But once that person has begun to realize their own greed, their own selfishness, their own spite, their own materialism, begun to wish I had not done this or that or said this, I wish I had been kinder, I wish I had realized. Then the hands that reach out to lift that soul into the light are legion. But they must work for their own salvation. Many return, reincarnate because they wish to make amends, there are many reasons for reincarnation, but again it is not compulsory. For each and every one of you has freewill, that is the essential thing to remember. You cannot say, I was not responsible, I was led, I was commanded, because you as an individual have the will to say go, and if you do not then the responsibility is your own.
Epilogue
Well my friends, it is as always a pleasure to be with you, to speak with you. And now as you have determined that I am Crazyhorse, I will give you one of Crazyhorse’s prayers.
O Great Spirit, Thou who dwellest among us as within us, Thou who bringest the wind across the prairie, Thou who gives us the food we eat, Thou who gives us the love which we know. You who are ever present no matter what the danger, no matter what the fear, no matter what the pain, no matter what the joy. Thou art part of all things, of all men, of all women, of all creatures. O Spirit of Life keep our feet ever upon the sacred path of Thy love, let us look ever in the four directions, the four corners of the earth, the four winds of life. Let us know that they carry Thy breath into the hearts of others, into the souls of others, into the fives of others. O Father of light protect us from the darkness, protect us from evil and let us go bravely forth before Thee. Let us greet each day that Thou hast given us, let us remember, as did our Fathers before us. Though it be a good day to live, it is a good day also to die and let us therefore always be ready to travel into the land of light, into Thy kingdom. Be with us, all of us throughout all time.
