May God be with you, I give you greetings.
My friends, I know that we often have spoken to you referring to the power of thought and of prayer and the influence which is has upon your daily life and upon the world in which you live. We have asked you to centre your thoughts upon the prevention of war. I know my brother, my friend Manyomin at your last meeting asked that you would centre your thoughts with love rather than hatred, rather than fear from those who sought to cause conflict throughout your earth plane. It may be apparent to you that in a large measure this power of thought which is being sent not only from you but from many many people throughout this earth plane has in some measure succeeded. It has in fact bought that necessary commodity upon this earth - time. Time for those who seek to bring darkness, to pause and consider. This is indeed a very necessary part of your lives today, not only matters such as this, but whatever decisions you need to make, the time to pause, to think, to determine within yourselves if this be the will of the God Spirit, whom we all profess to follow. Those who are seeking war, speak now of a holy war, trying to let us all believe that they are fighting in the name of God. But I tell you this, a holy war there never can be, for the God Spirit is a god of love and not a god of warfare.
Whenever there are two sides in conflict, each appears to claim the protection of whatever they named God. But the God Spirit is the Spirit of Life, the Creator of all mankind, the Creator of all living creatures. And who having created, having built-up a life would seek to see it destroyed. We know that all that can be destroyed is the physical form of life, but nevertheless, each living thing upon this earth plane has the right to the full term of its life; should not become short by the greed of another nation, whether that greed be for gold or for territory or for what you now call the black gold - oil. Man must come to realize that each and every one of you is a part of God, that each and every one of you cannot be singled out, for you are a part of the whole, you are a part of each other. You cannot destroy another being, for in doing so you destroy yourself.
This earth plane is at a point now - a junction as it were - on the main road of life. Man can choose fife or can choose to slip backwards into the ages of misunderstanding, of menace. of despair. It behoves all of us and all of you who have understanding to seek the prevention of this, to turn man towards light. There is indeed an indication that the prevention of war is happening. There is although it may not appear so to you, a wavering in the determination of the nations who initiated this great and serious problem. What now is necessary is to find a way of giving-in without as it were losing pride. Pride, this is the problem which so often afflicts you people upon the earth plane. You arrange yourselves against each other, as individuals, as nations believing always that your way and your desire is the right one. When you begin to have doubts, or to realize that the other person or the other nation is stronger than you. How difficult it is merely to say, we are wrong, we are sorry, that is the word that so often remains unsaid, both in personal and in national conflict. How many times when after a rift, a parting, one decides that an apology can be given, it is found to be too late. The other person is lost to you it seems for ever. Never my friends, allow pride to stand in the way of mending a quarrel. Quarrels, which if you live according to the laws of the God Spirit, should never occur in the beginning. But since you and all of us are human, these things happen. But who have the knowledge of spirit, the knowledge of the power of love, the power of thought; you should learn to rise beyond such problems. You should never ever allow pride to prevent you from awakening a friendship which seems to you lost. There are bonds between you people upon earth, many which have been forged many generations ago, many lives ago, but the friendships break very easily because like love, like marriage, it takes two to make a friendship, two to make a love match and two also to break these precious gifts. Remember whatever the situation., one cannot always blame the other because you have the right and the power to refuse to quarrel, to refuse to be provoked, or having being provoked, come to your senses and admit to yourself, this is not the way that God would have me live. Harmony, unity, love; these are the things which bring light to the earth, bring healing and understanding and spiritual progress to you all.
I urge you therefore to lift yourselves above the pettiness of your daily lives. Do not allow others to push you into a position where you feel you must retaliate. We do not mean, as we have said before, that you condone cruelty and oppression, but you counter them with love and not with your own aggression, for that only adds to the darkness which pervades the earth. My friends there is a great and a wonderful chance to bring light and life to this earth. This problem which confronts you now has brought about a unification of many nations, a determination that tyranny and terror shall not prevail. This in itself brings light out of darkness. Let each of you ensure that the light does not diminish but grows stronger and stronger. That this coming together of the nations shall be but a beginning to culminate in the tolerance and understanding amongst you all.
Friendship
Question. You say it takes two people to break a friendship, but actually it only takes one really.
I must disagree my friend. I am not speaking of unrequited love. I am speaking of friendship which is already established. Do you understand me? You cannot quarrel with another being who will not. Friendship like marriage requires freedom, there must be trust. So often you, by your very loving, fetter or try to, another being. That is neither love or friendship, friendship and love require freedom of the individual, they require trust and loyalty. But where a friendship is true and based on that level, it cannot be broken by one being alone. If a rift is created, if one person becomes offended, it is up to the other to explain, to apologize, but if they refuse, then it will be permanent. If with apologies, with explanations, still it is not healed, then it was not a true friendship in the beginning.
Life after Life
Question. I know that we have plenty of proof of life after death, but I have never come across any proof of life after life.
All I can say to you my brother, we are speaking now of incarnation, I know that this is a fact, but it is something which is not compulsory. It is a way of developing, of spiritual unfoldment which very many of us choose, but not all. I know that many of us have lived lives with each other many times before. The proof must come from within yourself, from retracing, as it were, your steps. I know that for many many years our own medium refused to accept this until one of the groups with which she and we were working, did these regressions, all as individuals and comparing the recordings taken, found that too many of them tallied and made a pattern to be anyone's mere imaginings. ~t I think gives rise to speculation of this point, is that so many insist that their lives have been those of what you upon earth call famous people. There are so many Cleopatras, so many Julius Caesars and so very few road sweepers among those who imagine they recall their lives. But if you desire to prove, desire to go back within your own lives, then I can assure you, you will be assisted to do so. ~t also is wrong is that so many believe that you return to this earth as a punishment. Now on this side of life we do not judge and we do not punish. You yourselves look back upon the joy or the pain which you have caused during your life upon earth. You build by the light you shed, the place in which you shall dwell upon reaching this side of life. You can only exist in the sphere which you yourself have created, but you are not sent back to earth as punishment. You are not sent back to earth as a creature of what you would call the lower order. If you desire to return, either to fulfil a task, to help your fellow being, to learn a lesson, to redress something which you feel you have done, then that is your choice and yours alone. You will of course be given help, be given advice but the decision is yours. You have freewill in this and in an other things, but only can you progress by learning, by your own mistakes. The cardinal law of the God Spirit is that each and every, one of us are responsible for our own acts. The karma which you carry is your own, none can gain from it, none can absolve you from anything you have done, you must bring the picture into balance.
When I lived upon earth last, the symbol was the feather of truth. The scales, they said of Mayet and in the Egyptian Book of the Dead, they showed the soul, the heart of a man being weighed against the feather of truth, but I would stress it is but symbolic. When a soul reaches this side of life, it chooses, if it will , to learn from the past which is the best way to bring the picture - the tapestry of life - to balance. The ultimate aim of all of us is to be at one with creation and with' the Spirit of God. There are those, who like all of you have learned this path of progress, you seek and because you seek the light shall come to you, the revelation of truth and of understanding. But there are those upon this earth who desire nothing but the material, the satisfaction of the physical body, no matter who or what is hurt in the process. Their craving must not be denied. Those who dwell thus, build only darkness for themselves. They could not exist in the light of knowledge, but till they desire to learn of something better, until they come to the realization of their own degradation, there they win remain. And as we have told you many times, no matter what kind of hell they create for themselves, once the desire for light comes to them, then the hands held out in friendship and in love to lift them up are numberless.
Turn the Other Cheek
Question. Though I have great respect for the teachings of the master Jesus, I find it difficult to accept his admonition to ‘turn the other cheek'. We generally find that those who do this are dominated by those violent factions within society and within nations. How do you see this.
My brother, we do not say that you should condone violence or that you should stand aside and watch others suffer when you can prevent it. But one of the greatest and gentlest that lived upon your earth plane in recent years, achieved more by peaceful means than others of his nation did by violence. You must know that I speak of the man you caned Mahatma Ghandi. He believed in non-violence, in peaceful resistance, even though it meant for him shame and imprisonment, but my brother he reached his goal, did he not? If this can happen once, it can happen again. You have within you the power of the God Spirit, the power to resist evil with persivity. The power of thought, united thought; if you could see its impact, is greater than you could possibly imagine. I will return to the present crisis. There are not only we, but in many of your meeting places, in many of the orthodox churches, you were asked to pray, or in your case and I know Manyomin asked that you would send your thoughts forth as a beacon of light. Not sending fear or hatred; sending love and asking that this tyranny, this terror would be deflected. Now do you imagine without these prayers, these thoughts, this man would have softened sufficiently to release those who already have returned. So your thoughts and your love have achieved something, something which is positive. Do not therefore relax them and do not think of violence. Jesus himself at times showed anger, because Jesus was human, as are you, as are we. We, none of us have yet reached the stage of perfection which we aim for, but my brother all we are asked is that we try. And never resort to violence, never be the one to create violence. There are times I know during for instance your last, what you named the world war, when terrible cruelties occurred. There still are throughout the earth, injustice and cruelty and tyranny, but if you counter them with further tyranny, you create a greater power of darkness. Evil begets evil, but light begets light. When you encounter violence you restrain it if love will not prevent it, but you do not restrain it with hatred and you would use the minimum of what you call violence to prevent further bloodshed, but you would not begin it. What is being done now upon your earth, the nations banded together in a determination to prevent war, not to begin it.
Passing Over
Question. Can you remember back to the time of your last incarnation upon the earth, your passing and been received by your loved ones on the other side and how you felt on arriving in the spirit world and were you aware of it.
Very much so, my brother, very much aware. I am Mayet Ptah and I was a teacher-priest in the temple of Ra at Thebes. I was very much aware of spirit as we all were within the temple and there was no fear of death. Today many of you believe that what you call the ancient Egyptians were obsessed with death, it was not so. We recognized the existence of the soul, much of our religion was symbolic and has been misinterpreted today. We in Thebes walked in the path of light, never forgetting that the reverse also was there, that a power of darkness existed and needed to be fought always, both within ourselves, within our nation and within the earth plane. But because we recognized the soul as distinct from the body, we did not fear its release. I remember passing, I remember many of my passings but in this last existence, I had a greater knowledge of the continuity of life, a greater understanding of its meaning and of the divinity of the soul. I passed merely, I think, because my time upon earth was expended, I was an old being by the standards of those times and I just passed over from my sleep state. We in the temple were well versed in what you now call astral travel and it was merely one such experience from which I did not return. There were many whom I had known during my life upon earth and many whom I had known in the past. It is always thus, because the welcoming of a soul upon this side of fife is like the welcoming of a birth upon earth. It is not death, but life and a celebration.
Whilst one lives upon earth it is to a certain extent natural to fear death, but I think all of us if we were honest would say it is not so much death that we fear but the manner of it, is it not? For some of us it would be easier if we knew how, not necessarily when but how, but for others perhaps it is better not to know. What I can say to you is that the moment of death is nothing to fear, it is a relief of tension, a relaxation, even those who pass after long illness feel this.
A lady who comes to my medi’s home circle and had suffered for many years in great pain, has said: 'the happiest day of my life was the day of my death'. So many friends were there to greet her. On earth she was a musician and many of those whose music she had expressed and whom she never thought to meet, were there in love and in gratitude. A great and a wonderful surprise and such surprises are there for many on their passing. Those of you who have understanding should fear nothing. Think of it merely as a reunion, a rebirth. And those of you who lose those you love, remember that a whole life upon earth is but one moment of time to those in the world of spirit and that the parting however long it may seem to you will not last forever. That those you love with a true love, know as you must know that the bonds can never be broken, always they will await you.
Spiritual Healers
Question. I would like to ask you about the spiritual healers we have in this country. A lot of dedicated people and yet I cannot help feeling that a lot of what they do is trivial. We don't seem to have the Harry Edwards and so forth. I would have thought that there would be a greater build-up between healers and the spirit world to make more impact, though I know one is not out to make impact. But one so often hears of people being healed from sprained ankles to headaches, etc. and it seems somewhat degrading.
My brother, on one point I will correct you, the healing of pain no matter how trivial is never degrading. I am not of course a healer myself, but amongst my group there are those very much involved with healing. The father of my friend medium was in his time a very well known healer indeed and his guide Medicine man is often with this medium. In those times were also Running Water, of whom you may have heard and Red Cloud and these caring healers would send patients to each other for second opinions. Today upon this earth you say there are dedicated healers; I tell you often there are far too many healers. There are too many who having been told perhaps from the platform that they have the power of healing, then set forth to be healers. Now I would say to you, in the days of the pioneers, each and every one of them learnt first to develop their own spirituality and this no matter what the gift, for without a sound knowledge - and these people often were not educated in any way as many of you are today - they learnt the truth from their own guides, but they took time to do so. They learnt how to use their lives in the service of spirit. Once you have established this spiritual awareness, then the psychic which includes healing will follow.
There are so many would-be healers among you who are over anxious and under developed. There are many who do in fact have power but they have not the patience to develop it fully before beginning to use it. There are many among you upon this earth who have the potential to be used as channels for healing. I would say to you, we all speak of great healers, of great mediums, of great guides, but all we are, - healers, mediums, clairvoyants, guides - all we are truly are instruments for the power of the God Spirit and one who desires to heal, just as one who desires to teach, must learn first to subject themselves to the will of the God Spirit. You have freewill, you can say I will do it alone, but true service is in saying, my Father, my Creator, I want to serve You, I want to serve mankind, I want to serve this earth plane. I am here, use me, but use me not as I will, but as you will. This is something I can assure you, that all those you may name as great have been prepared to do. Jesus himself, even when asking: ‘let this fearful death pass from me, not as I will, as you will'. Whatever the spiritual gift, they are given for use, for the benefit of creation, not for personal glorification and sadly my brother, this is where so many fall by the wayside. Humility and spirituality are the keys to progression, but I would say to you also that you, cannot measure healing by what you may see. Too often a healer will become disheartened when a patient passes to this side of life. 'Why could I not do more'. I would remind you that those of the medical profession are in the same position. But how can you measure, how much more that person may have suffered, how much shorter their life upon earth may have been if the healing or the medication had not been given. You cannot see as we do within that being. You speak of the triviality of curing a headache, but how do you know the intensity of pain that it may be causing. In some cases it goes on day after day, week after week, wearing the nervous system, wearing the physical frame. You cannot discount the easing of that as trivial. Try my brother to see that the pain of man however small, is important to that individual and its cessation is received with gratitude and with love.

Chairman: You are lucky you don't have it. So I would be very grateful if you, would finish the evening with a prayer for us.
Epilogue
First I would like to thank you, all of you for your attention, for your questions and for your patience. I apologize for the condition of this body, it is something which I have to bear. [This refers to the medium - Sheila Jones - having a cold and consequently there was a certain amount of coughing during the talk].
I will close with a prayer, part of which we used in our temple. We used as you know, the sun as a symbol of light, the symbol of the Creator, we did not worship it as a God.
O Light, O Father of Light, You who travel throughout the sky, You who traverse this earth plane giving life, giving light, giving warmth. Let the eye of Thy light look upon those who dwell in darkness, let Thy light pierce through the skin of self deception. Let it give to them peace, that the eye of Thy light become the eye of their light. May it uplift them, may it bring them into the light of Thy kingdom. O Father, give to Thy children the understanding which they need to traverse the path of life and let them at the portals of death be enriched by the knowledge of Thy love. Let them travel without fear into Thy kingdom, let Thy light be there guiding them along the pathway of peace. Bring peace into the hearts of all Thy children, both those of the light and those of the dark. That those who dwell upon this earth may learn to dwell in peace, may find tranquillity, may find wisdom, may find always Thy love. May each one of you go in peace and find the kingdom of God within your own hearts.
