My friends tonight I will speak with you about the understanding which we have of our reason for being. To many, life upon earth is a thing very difficult to understand and a continuous asking of why, why are we here? Why does this or that event occur. Life upon earth is a school, it is a beginning, a time in which to learn to adjust yourselves, to be able to learn how to serve each other how to come to terms with that which does not quite suit our own purposes, although it may be a part of the plan of the God Spirit. When upon earth it is always so easy, to slip into the misconception that we and we alone are the centre of the universe and that I, the ego, the individual is in fact the centre of our own particular world. To be able to realize that quite the reverse is true, that we as individuals are but one small speck upon this earth plane and that the earth itself and all that it contains is also but a speck in the infinity of the universe. But that speck and each one of us as individuals are still important, we have our place, our part to play.

Life it is said is as a stage and we when upon earth are players upon it but our part is to learn to be at peace, as one with each other and eventually to come to' this unity with creation and with the God Spirit. We are but small it is true, we are but a part of life, yet our actions, our thoughts, our words have a very great influence upon the earth plane and throughout the universe. For each tiny part of us is life and since all life is but one life, we do count, we do influence. It is important therefore that each one of us learns the way to life upon earth, the way to live with each other, the way to bring harmony and unity, not only into our own lives but into the lives of those around us. Each time we come I know, you will feel that we keep on in one way or another repeating this theme of harmony and unity and love. But my friends that is the message of the God Spirit, that you shall live together, that you shall learn how to be at one with each other, how to put first the welfare of others and of all created life. To learn that although you are an individual, self must be denied if the kingdom of God is to be made manifest upon earth. This does not mean that you shall all be alike, that you shall all live as one being, no. But what it does mean is that you must learn to be aware of others needs, learn that although you are important, your wishes and desires are not omnipotent, they are not all important. That the welfare of all as a whole, must come before your own, not before your own needs, but before your own wants.

There is you know a vast difference between what mankind needs and what he desires. So often the material which we so desire upon earth is quite surplus to that which is necessary in order to support our lives. You only need to look upon the nations which are dogged by famine and by disease to realize how very well you fare in this western world. Do you not understand, that while there is one upon this earth who lacks food, be it of the physical or of the spiritual kind, harmony cannot be. This earth is destined to bring about the kingdom of God upon its surface and the meaning of your life; the purpose of your life is to assist in the fulfilment of this. For each one of you is a part of God as many of you already know and you have power within you which is limitless, if only you would choose to use it. Seek out those less fortunate than yourselves, give to them, not necessarily in a material manner but of yourselves, of your love, of your understanding, of your tolerance. We must all learn to live with each other, all learn to value each other, to value ourselves also but not to exalt ourselves because we have a greater understanding than the man or the woman next door.

The knowledge which you have is yours but it is yours to share, for the more we spread the truth and the light, the greater the power of the God Spirit within us will grow. The purpose of life is to enrich your spirituality, to gain a greater knowledge of the God Spirit and of each other. To bring about peace and harmony upon the earth plane, to make manifest the divinity within you and the kingdom of God upon earth. The earth alone is your responsibility at this present time, but the earth itself must take its place within the universe, within the. development of this great unity which is the law of the God Spirit. That not only the earth but all the planets, all life shall eventually be at one, shall know and hear the voice of the God Spirit. The voice that says be still and know that I am God, that voice comes not from without but from within, from within yourself. Be still and listen, learn and know, be at peace with each other, learn how to give, how to control your innermost thoughts and feelings, how to be at peace with your brethren, with your neighbours, with all your nations and with all created life. This atonement is at times very difficult to appreciate; even harder to understand and to attempt to carry out. For when you look around you see many, with whom not only you disagree but whom you may actively dislike.

My friends, love has nothing to do with likes or dislikes, for the love of the spirit transcends all this, entirely leaving the physical. You reach out not to the beings you see, not to the semblance which they present to you but to the spirit which lies within. For that life of the God Spirit is within all creatures, no matter how dark or misguided they may appear to you, yet still within them, though it deep may be, there is this part which is immortal and which is the God Spirit. Reach out then your love, not to what they appear, but to that love within them, to that one small spark of immortality. Wrap them in love and in light and remember it' matters not how many times your love may be refused, may be rebuffed, once it is given it cannot be taken back and it is this power of love which brings peace to earth and peace also to you. Your purpose upon earth is to spread the knowledge of the God Spirit. To learn both how to obey and how to interpret the laws of God and wherever possible to make them known to your fellow beings, that they in turn may realize the light and the love which is given to man and may also learn how to give; how to spread it forth.

Earth was not intended to be a sad place in which to live, to be violent, to be clothed in darkness, that is the work of mankind and it is the work of mankind to bring earth back to make it once more, a place where all may walk safely, without fear, without the need to feel protection. Man is weak and is influenced by greed and by the desire for material welfare. This need to be supported by the material is a sign of spiritual immaturity. For those who are wise in the ways of spirit understand that it is only spirit and the things of the spirit which endure. My friends, learn to understand that you may the better progress.

Peace on Earth

A worthwhile thought my sister, but very difficult to put into practice. We ask whenever we come, that all of you who have understanding of spirit, will send forth this love, this desire for peace. And we on this side of life, believe me, at all times are sending light and sending thoughts of peace. We attempt always to influence, but one thing must always be made clear, man must make his own destiny, it is not pre-planned or preordained and one of the greatest laws of the God Spirit, is the law that each and every creature has freewill. Now we when we are asked for advice or asked to speak, can help, we will attempt to influence those who have ears to hear. We do also, although it may appear to give little result, make many attempts to influence your political and world leaders. But an we can do is as it were whisper in their ears and hope that they will hear and hearing will listen, but we have no power to compel and can only influence those who are receptive to our thoughts or to our words. We cannot force In any way a single being upon earth to do as we wish. We can only ask, we can point-out the error of a particular road, a particular way of life, but we cannot prevent you, either as individuals or as nations, from stepping upon any particular road, should you so desire.

Warfare is an evil, it is a darkness, but only through individuals such as yourselves can peace come about. I will say that although the earth appears now still to be very dark and very uncaring, yet during this last war in which many of your nations took part, there was a very great power sent out, a feeling of love and of the desire for peace which came from many of you who had this understanding. It was not able to prevent the war, but it did most certainly shorten the length of time which it may have lasted. Never despair however time consuming and futile the results may appear to be. Never cease to send your thoughts, never cease to give out light where earth is sadly in need of it, earth and its inhabitants. The famine upon earth has been caused mainly by mans' misuse; misunderstanding of the earth upon which he dwells, but as many of you realize man now is coming to understand the need to seek this ravishing of his environment. This in itself marks progress, it is the beginning of caring and the more of you who learn to think as you do my sister, the greater the effect will be, both upon the third world and upon the whole of mankind.

You speak of one particular person. I can only speak here in general terms, but I can say to you this, that in a case such as this where a person is as you say mentally in and improperly balanced; they would be received with love and with sympathy. Remember there are many reasons for individuals bringing themselves to this side of life. With some it is an escape from deeds which they have committed; the one thing I would emphasize is that there can be no escape from our lives upon earth, for there is no sleep as some believe. Life does not end at the point of death, it continues, the individual continues and will find that the problems which they refused to solve upon earth, yet face them upon this side of fife. But a being who is as you say, not in control of themselves, would not be held to task. Do you understand? They would be given love and help and sympathy. Well all are given that, but as many of you know, the one immutable law of God is that whatsoever you sow that also shall you reap. And it matters not how long it will be before you take your harvest. We do not sit in judgement and each one of you must learn to balance the events of your lives and know that you are answerable for whatever you have done or said or thought throughout your lives and you and you alone must balance the records, but make your karma pure and the pattern correct. You cannot judge and we do not choose to judge, but especially when upon earth, because you cannot see within the mind of another being, no matter how well you may think you can. You cannot measure the pressures, the stress which they undergo, you cannot either truly know their motives for being as they are or for doing what they do. Remember always to, think before you speak and remember the line: ‘There but for the grace of God go I’.

Our Prayers

Well my friend, to begin with I will say that the moment you send out thoughts for help they are answered. It is almost like your telephones. It will as it were ring a bell, it sends a signal. It will initially make itself apparent in the group to which you belong on this side of life. You understand that we all belong in a group soul which works on this side of life together to assist each other in development and understanding and the prayer of an individual will initially go there. Those who are the shining ones, the guides of the group, will access the thought, the prayer and how it can best be dealt with. If it is for instance a prayer of a universal nature, it will be passed on to other groups so that it snowballs and grows bigger and bigger and its influence that much the greater. These are the prayers which you send for peace, for light, for the general wellbeing of earth and its inhabitants.

When you pray for an individual, it is usual that someone win go to that individual, again to access how best your prayer can be answered. Whether it be a prayer for healing, for assistance of a physical nature, for mental healing and so on. Each request which comes from a being upon earth is always dealt with, always answered, although to you it may not appear so, because it may not be answered in the way that you desire. For instance you pray perhaps that a loved. one who is sick may stay with you, you cannot bear to lose that physical presence; for whom then is that prayer? For yourself. This we have told you often, that the way to pray is for the alleviation of suffering and to accept that if it is better for your loved one to pass to the world of spirit, then for their sake, so be it. The way to end your prayers always is, Thy will be done.

Learn to seek out the will of the God Spirit and learn to accept it, however hard that decision may be for yourself, but know that as we have said, it is not always what we want that is best for us and the God Spirit desires only that which is good, that which is wise. And remember that on this side of life we are able to see further than you who remain still seeing through a glass darkly upon this earth plane. Your prayers must be prayers not for self, this does not mean that you cannot pray and ask for health for yourself, or healing for yourself. But when you pray for those you love, pray not that they may be kept with you, but pray for their happiness, their relief of pain, their joy and if it is possible then say, if it is possible that they stay with me, then Father I thank Thee, but if You need to take them, then so be it. I will accept it with sorrow for my loss but with joy for their freedom.

Thank you, it has taken me nearly seventy years to get that answer.

Well my brother, I can only tell you what I know to be true, and my name is Mentor.

Does the Wording Matter?

[Question. This was a long but inaudible question, apparently on healing and the form our requests and the wording should take, e.g. does it matter that the names of diseases be mentioned].

No. In a word no. They are very often set in traditional ways, perhaps shall I say too, there are many who love to hear their voice. Quite frankly the name is sufficient. All that is necessary is to concentrate your thoughts of love and of healing, that the rays of healing may be sent out, not only to the individual concerned, but to all the sick and suffering throughout this earth. Positive thoughts of light, surrounding them with light, lifting them up out of the darkness, out of the pain, out of the suffering and time is much better spent upon visualizing this earth as a whole. Being once more whole, being rid of pestilence, being rid of darkness, being rid of warfare. That is important.

This whole concept of Spiritualism, of spiritual healing is simple. So many times I know I and my friends also have stated to you the teaching of spirit is simplicity itself. The teaching which Jesus, which the Buddha, which all the great ones who have come to you have given. The teaching was simple, so simple that man finds it impossible to accept, impossible to live by. It is priests and followers who have' muddled and mixed and smothered the teaching in ritual and dogma and rules and regulations. The one important theme is love. Love of the Creator, love of yourselves, love of each other, love for all that lives and breathes upon earth, for that is an the mind of man can conceive. Later as you progress you will realize that love does not end here, but must extend to the whole of the universe, to wherever there is life. But for the present, love, love in its purest form, love of the spirit, love which knows no hurt, which understands. Once you come to this realization, the power of healing is limitless. All you need to do is to sit either alone or as a group and ask. Truly you can bring it to one word only, help.

The Bible

Question. I recently attended a lecture where they said that everything that is written in the Bible is, as it were coded and everything that happened to the Jewish people is there and everything that will happen is there. Do you know about this and is it all written in code.

No my brother, I do not. All I can say is this, that yes your Bible is a history of the Jewish people. Therefore what is written is what has happened, but nothing is preordained despite what many of your people would say. I tell you that as individuals and as nations, we cannot emphasise too often, you have freewill. Otherwise the law of cause and effect, the law of sowing and reaping would be nullified and that is one of the immutable laws of the God Spirit. When it appears for instance that clairvoyance will tell you the future, it is possible to see from this side of life the various paths which lie before you. Do you understand? Again I speak of individuals and of nations and what should be said is not that such and such will happen but that it can happen and will happen if you take that left hand path, if you take the centre path, some other result and so forth.

Questioner. That's why I asked you this question.

Yes, but it is only possibilities, do you understand? The future is not mapped out, it is not unchangeable. If it were so, then none of you could be held responsible for your words, for your acts, but you are responsible. The Jewish people, my own people, have brought many of their disasters largely upon themselves. We were if you look back on our history, an arrogant people, the chosen ones, but the Jews are no more a chosen people than any other nation. We had many mystics among us, some of the light, others who misled and misrepresented the words of spirit, leading our people into a web of darkness, from which they are still struggling to escape. I tell you now, there are no chosen ones upon this earth, you all belong to the family of the God Spirit, you all have the right to exist upon this earth, you all are immortal for life continues, but with this knowledge you must also accept the responsibility, personal responsibility, again both as individuals and as nations. Fate, as the ancients believed is a mistaken concept, your lives are not mapped-out before you, your destiny is yours to choose. So it is with the Jews and they in time must come, as must all mankind, to the realization of this need to be at one with each other if ever you are to become at one with the God Spirit. Your computers my brother tell you much, but remember that the machine is only as good or as wise as those who feed and tend it. And if you put into a computer not only the bible but many more of your ancient books., they could be made to tell much which seem to be true, but what is that - a mirage.

Question. Could I ask, how as individuals can we best seek out the will of God, as I am slightly confused between the concept of freedom of choice and freewill and perhaps what God wishes for us. There are times when we are in a situation when we are frustrated and we want to get out of it. Does the way out of it come when God wants us to get out of that situation.

Complex. First my sister to find the will of God, you must find the voice of God, which some may think of, may recognize as conscience. The way to hear this voice is trough stillness and through meditation. The voice of God speaks to us in many ways, some can sense this voice within them by looking around them at the beauties which the God Spirit has created. Others find it in music, in great painting or merely gazing upon the ocean. To hear the voice, to recognize it within the turmoil of daily life takes willpower and determination. To be quiet within yourself and one can be quiet even in the midst of a city, in the midst of noise and bustle, for it is a stillness, the quietness of spirit which you need to acquire. Learn to let your spirit to rise above the material which surrounds you, to move as it were into another plane of existence, to touch the hand of God. You know basically that which is good and that which is evil, that which is light and that which is dark, but between there are many shades and it is sometimes difficult to differentiate, to as it were, to find the right solution to your own particular situation or problems. But may I say, there always is a solution. We say to you, seek out the will of God, follow the will of God, but God does not tell you to do so, nor drive you to do so by uncompromising situations. Do you understand? The freewill is still there.

You yourselves must desire to accept the will of God and God does not compel you to do so. It is a sacrifice of self, an acceptance of the wisdom which is greater than that of the individual, the wisdom which desires the good of all beings and therefore desires the best for you as an individual. But nevertheless does not impose that will, but offers it to you as a way of living and a way of living which will bring to you, each one of you, peace and tranquillity. The laws of the God Spirit were not made to restrict, but to give the freedom which comes from love. Many of these laws, many of the teachings which for instance Jesus gave - I speak of him because it was he that I followed - and all the great ones have given love, taught selflessness and taught wisdom. The need to forgo the material in order that the spirit may move freely. To some this understanding comes through many years of study, of worry maybe, of seeking the answer. To others it comes as a blinding flash of inspiration, a light which suddenly is there and makes clear all that before lay in darkness. Life is a maze, it is a puzzle, but the answer is there, it is within you. It is learning of spirit, of the God Spirit and accepting that that wisdom and that love is greater than you can ever know. Accepting that however poor and humble an individual may be, they still belong to the family of God and God is there for all, for each and every one of you, there is this love and this light. And problems which may seem to be insoluble, once you accept the hand of God, become as nothing.

Spiritualism as Religion

Question. During the turn of this century, eminent scientists such as Lodge and Crookes who did a lot for this actual movement said that we have been taken over by religionists and I sometimes wonder if this movement has gone a little astray in bringing the truth to all religions and has itself ended-up as another religion. A one God religion with a capital S.

My brother for a very long time, I myself have said this. There are those among you those who say that one cannot be a Spiritualist and a Christian. Why not? No, Jesus was one of the finest mediums there has ever been. This I can tell you with authority because I lived at the same time and I saw the results of his mediumship. I saw the inspiration which he gave to those who previously had no hope, I saw the results of his healing. What then conflicts with modern Spiritualism? Jesus taught his disciples, he held what you would now, would call a developing school, we taught them how to go forth and preach this 1ove of God. Forget the term Spiritualism, forget Christianity, forget Buddhism, forget Mohamedism or whatever other religion you may care to name. There is only one important thing, to acknowledge that we are created, not by a creature like ourselves, but by a power, a formless power, which is the cosmic mind, the Christ Spirit, God. By what name you call that being is entirely unimportant, but that you understand the necessity to be at one with It, to accept Its supremacy, Its love, Its warmth.

The fact that man, not only man, but all life continues after physical death is universal and because one calls himself Christian, one Mohamedan, one a Jew, one a Hindu, it does not stop that individual from continuing on this side of life. This is a fact, which as you say has nothing to do with religion. Life continues whether you will or no, whether you believe or disbelieve. There are among your scientists today still those who are seeking to prove this fact, but unfortunately there are too many negative thinking people, who seek not to prove, but to disprove all that we believe. Who think that you are gullible, are foolish, are superstitious. But what we are, we of the spirit, has nothing to do with superstition. Many will say that I am but a facet of this medium's mind. I am not, I am myself, an individual like you. I have merely borrowed this body in order to communicate with you. Organized religion is unimportant; to worship God, that is important. By worship we mean love and the God Spirit is best served by you loving each other, by you learning to tolerate the thoughts, the beliefs of others, knowing that whatever they call themselves by, it is their way of life that is important. It is the light they give out, whether they meet Jew or Gentile or Pagan that counts upon this side of life. Not their way of worship, not the sect to which they belong, not the name they call themselves nor the name they can God. Build light, seek truth and you shall find God.

Epilogue

My friends, I thank you for the intelligence of your questions, for your response and for the love which you have given to me and to each other. And now I will close with a prayer to God.

O Father/Mother, You who see and know our innermost thoughts and feelings, bring enlightenment to each of these Thy children, let them understand Thy presence within them. Let them see the light of Thy understanding, let them learn to accept Thy will, not as binding, not as a duty but because of the love they give to You and You to them. May their eyes be opened and their ears unstopped, that they both see Thy face and hear Thy voice. Father, let Thy word be made known to all the nations of earth, that they may come to the realization of the concept of unity. That they may be brought together in love and in harmony, that, war may cease upon this earth and that man may live again in peace as You Yourself intended. May each one of them be given the wisdom to use the power which they have within them, to use the technology which they have discovered, not for darkness, but for light. And may each one find their own spiritual pathway and choose the road, the right road which leads to Thee. That Thy kingdom may be made manifest here upon this earth and that Thy peace may ever be present, for and within each one.

May you journey safely home and may God be with you always.
