I salute you. I give you greetings.My friends, it is again a great pleasure to be among you. From time to time we come to you giving, what seems to us, to be a message pertinent to the conditions of others. At this time earth seems - all the time - to be in a turmoil, a ferment of misunderstanding.
Among the nations,, there are now attempts being made to live as the God Spirit would have you live, in peace and harmony, one with the other. Each of you now has a great opportunity to bring about understanding. To iron out, as it were, the misapprehensions to which man is heir to. From the beginning of time men have split into various communities, to various ways of thought, into different religions. Each claiming that his way, his community, his religion, his thought was the only true way of life. Thus there came about, war. One tribe vying for [with] another, for territory. One seeking to compel another to worship his or her own god. Greed, alive with misunderstanding, has destroyed - almost - the' earth as the God Spirit intended it to be. A haven, a place of tranquillity; of love.
In the coming age, man has the chance to fulfil the initial dream, to bring about peace and understanding. Many of the leaders of your nations, seek now to work together., to gain a better understanding, to gain knowledge of each other's way of life. You in this movement of Spiritualism have the opportunity to let your truth, your belief, your knowledge be known. For not only within this nation, but in many others also men are striving to prove, not through mediumship, not through psychic experience only, but scientifically that there is indeed an existence after physical death. There are of course many who would not believe their own return, let alone the return, the speech of others. But these, in the time to come will be in the minority, no longer will your beliefs and your knowledge be ridiculed, but explored., accepted. Men must come to realize that the spirit world and the physical world are but stages of the same life, not separate as many would have you believe. The move into the world which I inhabit is but a step, it is but a stage further in your spiritual evolution.
To imagine that at death life is ended is foolish and pointless. What then would be the point of life. Why would you seek to live in peace. Surely if this life were the only life, then each of you would be justified in seeking to take an you could while you had the opportunity. But we teach you that life upon earth is but a school, it is a place of learning, a place where you may gain a greater understanding, a different aspect where you may look upon the thoughts., the beliefs of others and if you cannot accept them, at least tolerate them. For I tell you now, that on this side of life also there are many differing schools of thought, but we have learned better than to argue over them. Discuss yes, fight no.
What is important is that while upon earth you live your life to the best of your, ability. You learn all that you can, you give all that you can and you serve as best you can, seeking always the will of the God Spirit, which does not compel you but which if you truly desire your own spiritual development, you win seek to obey. I say now what we have said many many times, that the laws of the God Spirit are not made to restrict, but to give you a greater freedom; a freedom to love, a freedom to give, a freedom to be yourself and to gain an inner sight of your own way of life. An inner sight of your own motives, of your own actions. Remembering always that what you sow you shall reap and that the place you shall go to on this side of life is what you yourselves have built, what you yourselves desire. The God Spirit gives only love, never punishment, never harshness. Many times in the past, the God Spirit - by whatever name you may wish to know It - whether an image, whether a being or an all pervading love, has been depicted as a savage god, a god of vengeance. 'I will repay', said the god of the Jews. Jesus and many other of the greatest teachers that man has known have taught far differently, they have shown this great unimaginable love, his love that called men to order, love that says ‘thou shalt not', because in doing so you destroy the love which I have given to you.
My friends, that love is given to each of you, that as many times before we have told you, it must be shared, it must in turn be given; the gifts which God has given to you, the gifts of spirit, the gifts of knowledge, the gifts of understanding. All these to be shared with those who are less well endowed, and. if they do not accept, you have lost nothing, they have lost much. Let your light shine among them, let Spiritualism go forward in truth. The time is now, the opportunity is right, let each one of you open yourselves as a channel for love. Love surrounds you, the love of God is with you; you walk hand in hand with the world of spirit and with each other knowing that truth is yours, life is yours and God is yours. And that you never, whatever the problem, need walk alone.
Always there are brothers and sisters on this side of life only too willing to lift the burdens from your shoulders. But we can only do this if you confide in us, if you ask for help, for we cannot force our help upon you, we cannot force our will upon you, but we can advise you and we can love you. And my friends, all that is said and done in this world of spirit for you, is done with love. For love is the great law of the God Spirit and it is the God Spirit and not the forces of darkness as some would have you believe. We seek to serve; our message comes to you through the will of the God Spirit. We seek always to dispel the darkness, the evil which has spread upon this earth. We seek to bring light, to bring truth and most of all to bring understanding, that the strife, the violence and the warfare upon this earth may cease, not temporarily but for an time and that the kingdom of the God Spirit may once more be made manifest here and now upon this earth.
Mediumship
[Question: Could you tell us something about developing clairaudient and clairvoyant mediumship].
There are many among you now who are seeking to develop this kind of mediumship, which takes much patience, much dedication. It is not something which comes lightly, but even with such evidence that this will provide, there are still many who will doubt their own senses, and for these there are many seeking to develop, not through a medium, but through scientific instruments that will be able to prove beyond doubt, that communication comes from the world of spirit and from nowhere else. Too often, people upon earth will say of a clairvoyant or a clairaudient that they are in collusion with members of the audience. They would need to be extremely clever people to continually fake their evidence. It is said also that mediums, such as my own, are not entranced, that those who speak through them are merely facets of their own personality. Once again, I think all, of you who have spoken to my medium will realize that the voice we produce is definitely [not] and could not be her own.
Mediumship should of course be questioned. Those who accept all that they see and hear are foolish. One should never accept that which is not to you a logical conclusion. Any guide, any medium who is genuine, will never be averse to being questioned. We enjoy a discussion with any of you. Often something which cannot be accepted is so because we perhaps have been unable to explain what we mean as clearly as we should. Therefore, if you do not understand, never be afraid to say: why? And a guide who is honest will always say to you, this may be fact, this is fact, this is the law of God, this we cannot change. In answer to your other point or question; this is my opinion, which you can accept or no, as you think fit. For I will reiterate, there are many theories, there are many ways of thought and there are many roads to truth and many roads to the God Spirit. We can lay them before you, but the road you choose must be your own.
Disharmony
[Question: On the disharmony encountered on the earth plane].
There are certain disharmonies. Gradually these disharmonies win be eliminated. The object of life upon earth, of an incarnation upon earth, is as you have said to learn. Sometimes, of course, it is to teach, sometimes to prove a lesson learned before. But the whole reason for being is to perfect oneself, and to help others in their search for perfection. We seek more perfectly to understand the will of the God Spirit and more perfectly to progress towards atonement with that Spirit. This is the purpose of life, spiritual unfoldment and understanding. Gradually each soul will come into this state of understanding, and as they do so, the disharmony, the discrepancy will melt away. For the kingdom of God is complete harmony, not only among mankind, but among all created life. The first step towards this harmony is the elimination of deception and warfare among men. For man is the only animal that wages war and destroys his own kind. deliberately. There are forms of life upon other planets within this universe, some of which are way behind the spiritual evolution which earth has reached. But there are others on the same level and others yet who have reached the stage of perfection which we on earth seek to find.
This perfecting of knowledge and understanding goes far beyond earth, for all the inhabitants of this universe must finally also reach perfection. It goes on and on and on, ad infinitum. For the universe is but part of a greater universe and so on. It is difficult even for the higher ones in the world of spirit truly to comprehend, and almost impossible for the mind of man to envisage whilst yet' upon earth. Harmony begins within yourselves. The greater harmony cannot be reached without tranquillity of soul within each individual; without the ironing-out of differences in families and among friends. Harmony begins with honesty, not the kind of honesty which hurts, but the kind of honesty which says: I know myself, I know my reasons for living, I know my purpose, I know that I must give and let nothing interfere with that giving.
There are many upon earth who seeing one who is selfless, ridicules them - they are a fool - one must look after number one. Yes true, but not at the expense of, others. You have to live, you have to support your life upon earth, but in doing so you must not forget that you are not merely physical; that your spirit, your soul, you, are immortal, and that immortality cannot be destroyed. If you put all your energy into material gain upon earth, then when you come to this side of life, you will come to the realization of all that you have lost, all that you could have found, all that you could have done. Harmony you must bring about, within yourselves, within your own circle. And never feel that this is unimportant, because from a tiny seed a great and mighty tree will come forth and so it is with your attempts to bring harmony into your own life; to be seen it is contagious, it win work.
Negative Emotions
[Question: About man's aggression, envy, jealousy one to another].
My brother, this will not always be so. If you had lived in my own time, you would realize just how far man has come forward, just how much harmony has already been created. When I lived upon earth and even later, there were the most dreadfully barbaric acts committed in the name of law. Slavery was an accepted fact, it was the norm. Prisoners of war; many of them were lucky if they were executed. The torment, the torture, the slavery could not be believed today, and I know - I have said this before - that many of you may not realize; add together those who came to the spirit world in both your so-called world wars, and I include, not merely the military, but those who died in the gas chambers. Have you any idea how many that would be? It runs into millions and millions, and when I tell you that as many or more men and women died horrifically in one week* of Roman games, under the Emperor Caligula, perhaps you will realize just how man has advanced since then.
[*The logistics of the above were questioned at a later date, but the guide insisted the figures were correct. Ed.]
It win not come within your lifetime or probably the lifetime of your children or your children's children, but gradually this earth is advancing, becoming more and more aware of spirit and less aggressive. Many of your barriers are already crumbling, nations are linking together for the common good. The so-called ‘iron curtain' no longer exists. Look around you my brothers and see that little by little, it may be, but with a certainty this earth is advancing, that men are trying to understand each other. Gradually this breaking down win come; for in the very beginning there were no barriers, there were no border-lines, and as man ceases to fear the unknown, so will tolerance grow greater. Much of the friction between nations is caused through ignorance, but now in this time there is the opportunity through better facilities for communication, for learning about each other, to gain understanding. You do not have to accept other ways of thought, you do not have to accept another way of life, but you can, in simple terms learn to live and let live.
Eugenics
Question: I recently read an article suggesting that sooner or later eugenics will be practised and that the first nation to do so will in a few decades be enormously superior to all its rivals.
My brother, one does not engineer the best brain. Anything that interferes in this way with the genetic pattern of nature is faulty. Do you understand? Just as are your transplants. Left naturally, man tends to produce outstanding brains, outstanding musicians, outstanding artists. Do you understand? And they are not confined to one nation, but shared by many. Even more so now for you have your radios, your television; you have the ability to move swiftly and freely from one nation to another, so that all may partake of these who are brilliant. Do you understand? But if you begin to engineer them, but then you must remember that where you - as it were - double the brain power, you will double also the faults. This is not my opinion, it is a fact. It is known in the theory of Mendel, which you will very evidently understand, that as you breed back to one particular parting, you are using the power not only to better, but to intensify also that which is wrong, and this would inevitably happen. You may gain a wonderful brain, but housed in a puny and weak physical body. It is necessary always to be aware, not only of the immediate parentage, but that which stretches back, and I would say back beyond the ability of man to trace. It is certainly something which we in the world of spirit would very definitely frown upon.
You will not gain, in the end much will be lost. You may well produce a brilliant brain, but a brilliant brain can seek either light or darkness and you will have no guarantee of which it will be. For spirit which is using that brain has the ability to develop, to tread either path, and a brain which was - as it were - bred by scientists, would still - to give it life - be a tool of a spirit, and you cannot dictate, you cannot compel, you cannot force a choice. So that that manufactured brain and body could be inhabited either by a messenger of the God Spirit or by a force of darkness. My advice to your scientist is to leave well alone. And having spoken about genetic engineering, I would digress a little and speak about this problem of transplanting organs. I would say to you, that I myself am bitterly opposed to such operations. Firstly because they have caused immense pain and suffering to many of what you would call your lesser brethren in the animal kingdom.
The experiments carried out in order to perfect these operations are horrific in the extreme. Secondly, I cannot see why man should seek to prolong life; his span upon earth. His spirit has chosen to inhabit that particular body with all its restrictions and limitations, for what reason must be known to his or her inner consciousness, but I cannot understand anyone wishing to prolong their stay on earth beyond its natural span. Now I do not mean that in order to steal a march and reach earlier, but this obsession with lengthening life seems to me foolish. You know my medium is a great lover of Shakespeare and I think too, that he had a very great and wise saying, as my countryman Julius Caesar, to say: ‘It seems to me most strange that men should fear, seeing that death, a necessary end, will come when it will come', and surely that is so. And my brother Manyomin the Indian in his prayers of the Sioux, win tell you always: ‘but to die my friends is to live, to be born again, to a greater wider freedom'. Do not seek to shorten your life, make the most of all that you have, but do not seek unduly.
Fate and Opportunity
[Question: This was completely inaudible, but appears to be on fate].
If by that you mean to imply that all things are pre-planned, then no my brother they are not. However, throughout one's life and even on this side of life, there are times when opportunities occur and seem perhaps to be apt. A very auspicious time, a time which suits you, a time when you can grasp this opportunity and make best use of it. The talents and gifts given by the God Spirit, most certainly are given to you in order that they may be used. It is death to the gift, death to the talent if you wrap it up and hide it and are afraid of using it, afraid to show it. This applies to all kinds of gifts, whether they be artistic, cultural, practical, or spiritual. They are there to be nurtured, not only for your own benefit but for the benefit of others also. As you use your gifts, so they will increase. I have known many in developing circles for instance, who could have developed into fine mediums, but fear withheld them, the fear of being wrong. The fear of being thought foolish, the fear of ridicule. And so, the gift which could have blossomed, withered and died. Always grasp every opportunity which is given to make good use of your own talents, to spread the truth which you know, without trying to force it onto others. But let it be known that your lives reflect its truth. Do not wait for a right moment; whenever it ever appears to come to you, yes, use it. Do not say to yourself, I must wait. Do not wait, go forth in truth, in knowledge and in love. Use your time wisely, and more and more of it will appear to be the right time.
Vivisection
[Question: On vivisection – inaudible].
It is not their sacrifice because they are not allowed consent. Do you understand?
They are bred for pain, they are taken whether they will or no, and it is morally insupportable. The pain, the torment which man inflicts upon them. That initially is what makes this so very very wrong. I tell you that vivisection is one of the greatest evils upon earth. And many of our rescue places are fraught with those who upon earth perpetrated these crimes and come to realize the iniquities and the suffering they have caused. Their cry always is: 'in the name of God let it cease', but we cannot make it cease, it must come from man's greater understanding.
