Christopher Hill's Home Page.

Hello and welcome, my name is Christopher Hill , I have Down's Syndrome and this is my home page.
It starts from when I was quite young and the big photo of me was taken in 2003 when I started at secondary school. This page is  history of me. I don't change the things that are here but update at the bottom of the page when important things happen in my life. I last updated the page in June 2007
My Dad helps me to run this page.

...This is me and this is my garden from my
bedroom window........(a lot of the shrubs have grown a bit since this was taken).

.

I attend a mainstream Secondary School in Liverpool.
I like school........
I won this cup for a whole week for doing well in Junior school.

In September 2005 I received a award and certificate for Diligence at my secondary school in recognition of the amount of hard work I have done over the last year.
Here is the picture of me receiving my certificate (it's a little blurred as my dad took the picture from the back of the hall while holding the camera with one hand - ho ho).

I am learning to swim and this is my certificate for swimming 5M. I have since gained my 10M, 25M and 50m badges and my Water Skills 1 and 2!
A couple of years ago I went to Colomendy camp with my Junior school. Colomendy is in North Wales and is in the middle of the countryside. We went river dipping and went on a visit to Wrexham Farm World where we had a great time. I fed a baby lamb and went on a tractor ride. It was the first time I had been away from my Mum and Dad but I had a great time and would like to go again.
I like reading and watching videos.

I have started learning the horn in school. I practice a lot at home. This is a picture of me with the B flat horn that I borrowed from school. I now have an E flat horn of my own - it is a little smaller and lighter for me to hold but I am still taking lessons at school.

I have been to Disneyland Paris and it was great.
My favourite rides were the Pinnochio Ride

and "Pirates of the Caribbean"..

.
Dad likes Big Thunder Mountain best - here is a picture of me with Mum and Dad on the ride.

This year (2002) I also went to Cornwall. We stayed in Looe and went out in a boat from Polperro. We went to Padstow and we went to Tintagel and also visited the Eden Project. It was very hot in the domes but it was great. I like Cornwall.

This year (2002) I went to Colomendy again but this time for five days!
I wrote this article for our local Liverpool Down Syndrome newsletter and the classroom assistant that went with me also wrote a bit.

This is a picture of me with Mrs Baxter at the top of Moel Famau

Chris at Colomendy
Christopher enjoyed every moment of Colomendy. He was a pleasure to be with and made us very proud to have him as a pupil in our school. He participated in every task given to him and gained a lot of self confidence from this.
During his stay in Colomendy he was very well organised and independent, credit must be given to Christopher's parents for this.
The highlight of Christopher's week was having his photograph taken at the top of Moel Famau. This was the ultimate achievement for the whole group.
Well done Christopher.

Just before Christmas 2002, year 6 at school had a fancy dress parade. I went as Long John Silver from Treasure Island which is one of my favourites. Here is a picture of me in my costume.

I am now in year 8 in mainstream secondary school.
I have been to Disneyland Paris again in 2004 and I met Minnie Mouse in the Studios park. I am nearly as tall as her now!

Here is another picture of me on Big Thunder Mountain. I think I must have grown as you can see me now and mum has to sit in front.

I have been busy at mainstream school studying for my GCSEs and I am doing an ASDAN course as well.
For the last year, I have been learning to ride at a local stables and I am enjoying it very much.
I have already passed my Grade 1 and have a certificate and a badge.
This month (June 2007) I was asked to take part in the Riding for the Disabled championships and I came in third and won a rosette.
There were four of us from my stables and we all won something ( 1 2 and 3 in the Junior and a first in the seniors). I was very pleased as I have only been riding for twelve months and I scored 157 out of 200 marks.
There is a short video of me on YouTube.

Here are some pictures of me riding.

The stables have just had a new arena floor laid and I was invited to the opening ceremony and my picture was in the local paper with the other riders and people from the stables.  Here is a photo taken by my dad who was standing next to the man who took the picture for the paper so it's very similar as I am not allowed to use the actual picture from the paper.
The leader of the city council opened it (he has his hands on my shoulders).

I am now nearing the end of year 11 and am preparing for the school prom.
Here I am trying  my posh suit.

Thank you for visiting, do come again.
