“Beach View” is a chalet sleeping 5/7 and “St. Ives View” is a large detached house sleeping 4/6. They both stand in their own gardens on a stunning cliff-side position next to the coastal path with spectacular views over Porthtowan village and beach, the North Cornish cliffs and sea with Godrevy Lighthouse and St. Ives Head in the distance. The small village of Porthtowan has a village stores, post office, hair dressers, surf shop, restaurant, public house and beach brasserie. It is supplemented in the summer months by a beach shop, café, surf board and wet-suit hire shop and an ice-cream parlour.
Porthtowan is renowned for its sandy beach (awarded a Blue Flag again this year) and good surfing. It is sometimes possible to see seals or even dolphins playing in the surf. Much of the coastline in this area is owned by the National Trust so you need only step out the garden gates of “Beach View” or “St. Ives View” to start enjoying the simple pleasure of walking one of Cornwall’s beautiful routes or just walk down to relax on the sandy beach with its rock pools and surf. At low tide you can sometimes walk along the sands to Chapel Porth where you can explore the old tin mine buildings of Wheal Coates, one of the most photographed mines in Cornwall, then have a cup of tea at Chapel Porth café
or perhaps try their speciality, a hedgehog (Cornish vanilla ice cream in a cone topped with clotted cream and chopped nuts). You can return to Porthtowan back along the sands (tide permitting) or take the cliff path passing the remains of Wheal Charlotte, a former copper mine. Just a short drive away to the South is Portreath with its harbour and beach, to the North is St. Agnes with its museum and many craft shops and galleries. Just a short distance farther on is the popular seaside resort of Perranporth.

Porthtowan is ideally situated for visiting the many tourist attractions of Cornwall including the National Maritime Museum, Eden Project, Goonhilly Earth Station, Flambards Theme Park, Lands End, Newquay Zoo, Tintagel Castle, Charlestown Shipwreck and Heritage Centre, National Seal Sanctuary, Geevor Tin Mine, Blue Reef Aquarium and St. Michael's Mount to name but a few.
