Anthony Bruce Edward was born on 14th March 1902 at 32 Vassall Road ,Brixton in the Registration District of Kennington, Lambeth. The registration was made by his father Charles Edward Beattie on 25th April 1902 who was a master art engraver.
At some stage Anthony changed his name and was always known as Edward Anthony "Ted".
