These pictures for Internet viewing are low resolution scans of the original 35mm transparencies. They are in 24-bit colour (16 million colours), progressively encoded in JPEG format with 45 per cent compression. They are in portrait orientation, and are generally presented at 240 x 397 pixels. Most pages have several graphics and may be slow to appear. In some browsers, the graphics will initially appear at low resolution and then be drawn fully. The page layouts are designed for 800 x 600 pixel screens. The text may be viewed at larger or smaller sizes, but its alignment may then appear untidy.
