Background: In October 2000 the Findhorn Foundation in Scotland hosted the first Soul in Education international conference. Many individuals and groups had contributed to the years of preparation of the field so that this conference could come into being and it is not possible to name you all! The Triangles in Education international network generated and subjectively supported the initial concept of the conference, and this was taken into its practical planning stage by the specially formed Soul Education Focalising Group in the UK. The third phase of the project, that of manifestation, was taken up by the Findhorn Foundation.

To all the groups and individuals who contributed in one way or another, please accept the heartfelt thanks of Triangles in Education for your role in the externalisation of this key aspect of the five-year process known as the Global Conference of Soul Education (1998-2002). This page pays homage to the generating of that watershed week of focussed attention to the Soul of education which came into manifestation as the Soul in Education International Conference, 21-28 October 2000.

The success of that first conference led to several participants announcing their commitment to hold a follow-up Spirit of Learning/ Soul in Education conference in their own part of the world, the first of which took place in Kauai (Hawaiian islands) in October 2001. The Heart and Soul of Learning conferences, May/June 2002 and June 2004 were closely related events in the Netherlands, and the next official conference in the series took place in Australia in Sep-October 2003. In June 2004 a small but powerfully inspiring Soul in Education conference was held in Pietermaritzburg, South Africa, closely followed by Soul in Education: Paths to Peace in Budapest, Hungary (October 2004). We are now looking forward to the sixth Soul in Education international conference: Creating a Compassionate Future. This is scheduled to be held in Boulder, Colarado from 16-20 June 2005 (See link below).

The continuing work of the Soul in Education movement of conferences is laying a sure foundation for the emergence of a new worldwide programme of Soul-inspired educational initiatives. Together, these initiatives constitute a World Programme for Soul Education, giving practical expression to the determination of educators to cultivate a more enlightened and "ensouled" humanity. The World Programme for Soul Education was initiated at Findhorn in the Global Declaration of Soul Education, issued by Triangles in Education at the close of the seminal Soul in Education conference. This Declaration was impulsed by the dynamic energy of the collective spiritual will of the new group of Soul Educators.
