What is the Office of the Caduceator?
The
Office of the Caduceator is an independent unit of solar educational service, dedicated to directing the Solar ch'i or life-energy of the Soul into the field of educational thought and action. The work of this Office is conditioned by the Wisdom-note of the "Solar Heart," utilising the musical Teaching Rod of Hermes/Mercury as an instrument for the octavisation and musicalisation of human consciousness. This work is carried forward simultaneously in classrooms across the gamut of experience in the one School of Humanity. As
an ongoing aspect of its caduceic octavising activities this Office is currently responsible for co-ordinating the development and work of
Triangles in Education, and collaborates in worldwide research into the
caduceus as an instrument of the Soul in education.
Last updated January 2000
The work of the Office of the Caduceator is subjectively attuned to the efforts of all world servers who daily strive to foster conditions for the intelligent expression of the Christ qualities within the Soul of Humanity. This Office is pleased to receive inquiries and news of all educational initiatives relevant to the task of constructing the path in consciousness between mankind and its spiritual Soul.
The Caduceus - Instrument of Soul Education
Music,
the Seven Rays and Education
The Caduceus is an ancient archetypal symbol of inner healing and self-transformation which speaks of musical initiation into Soul awareness. It has historically been associated with the noblest attributes of the human soul, including the attaining of peace, moral equilibrium and intellectual development, and it is today re-emerging in the consciousness of holistic educators as a depiction of the balanced and rhythmic awakening of the light, wisdom and power of the Soul through school-based education.
Visitors to this site who are interested in exploring the educational applications of the caduceus in the public domain of the ordinary school should refer to the bulletin
Soul Educator (see below), which deals with this as an ongoing theme in a variety of ways. For a brief example of the use of the caduceus as a pedagogical tool with 11 - 16 yr olds,

The following sections of the current page may be of greater interest to those educators who have a strong interest in the esoteric considerations which condition the outer phenomena of human evolution, and who might therefore be willing to investigate the caduceic rod as an instrument of communication which can be activated and utilised in world service by any sincere Soul or disciple of the World Teacher, the Living Christ.
Activating the CaduceusTeachers
should first of all recognise that the use of the caduceic rod is not based on dogma. It should be investigated and approached from the angle of its potential usefulness in furthering the noble tasks and goals of holistic education. As the world's best known symbol of health and the healing professions it offers itself as a possible means of aligning our teaching practices directly to the root of all healthy patterns of thought, feeling and physical activity. Activating the caduceus becomes the symbolic action of setting healthy and healing processes into motion. Research has shown that the means of activating this symbol-process are in fact utterly simple, but require the commitment of disciplined and persistent
application with invocative intent in order to be made truly effective.
The root meaning of the word caduceus may be traced back to the Sanskrit "karuh", meaning singer or poet. This points to the fact that the activating of the caduceus - making it a living symbol in one's consciousness and life processes, is essentially a musical and poetic process. Poetic because it requires the cultivation of mental sensitivity to the finer energies of the mental and intuitional planes, as well as the ability to allow the expression of this sensitivity in the form of language. Musical because it is through intentional inner singing that the energies of the self are caduceically brought into harmony and spiralled upward in a refining process which eventually results in the completion of the link in consciousness between the outer or lower self and the spiritual or Higher Self.
Several modern researchers have demonstrated that knowledge of the fundamentally musical nature of the universe, including human nature, is actually encoded into virtually every culture and religion known to our current civilisation. Right understanding of the value of this knowledge in terms of its educational and evolutive potential is not widely found however, and so there has been virtually no investigation by modern educators into the psychological, sociological or spiritual applications and uses of the musical nature of energy.
In the same way that modern education introduces children everywhere to the basic principles of numeracy and arithmetic, so will the new education introduce children and young people to the basic principles and practices of self-musicalisation. The research of the Office of the Caduceator suggests that a safe and universal vehicle for this practice is the singing of the basic Solfa scale, the musical equivalent of the ABC of language.
Educators of the future will work with the basic understanding that meditative singing of the Solfa scale, when taken up as a regular activity, has the effect of musicalising or harmonising the energies of the self. A growing number of individuals and groups are now responding to this emerging knowledge of the etheric and psychological effects of sound, and are beginning to practice and teach direct work on the psycho-physical centres within the human body. From the angle of universal education and work with children, we believe that such direct work is not advisable, and the Office of the Caduceator would dissociate itself from any effort to tamper with the energy centres of young people in this way. It would seem clear that the safest, wisest and most morally acceptable way for the teacher to proceed is to ensure that he/she himself/herself functions (with respect to their professional work) only from the highest centres and in alignment with the Soul's own intent. Practical research in ordinary schools and classrooms suggests that the effort to function from one's own higher centres (in the head) is the best way to assist in the refining of the energy-expression of one's students. The teacher heals by octavising his/her own consciousness.
With the above thoughts in mind, it may be useful to consider briefly the vibratory nature of the caduceus as it forms as a psycho-spiritual ch'i pattern within the Solfa-singing teacher or group. The caduceic ch'i process actually opens the way to ever clearer Soul expression along one or other of seven major paths or ways of being, having their relevance both from the angle of overall human and planetary evolution as well as from that of practical expression in classroom "teaching and learning styles." Whether in the case of the individual or of the group the fully activated caduceus resonates to seven basic frequencies corresponding to the notes of the major musical scale. These seven notes give rise to or correspond with the seven basic frequencies of light or manifested activity, and hence are sometimes spoken of as seven Rays. The Office of the Caduceator invites educators to consider these Rays as being essentially CADUCEIC in nature as this opens the intuition to unveiling the possibilities of the healing and divine-messenger function of the Rays.
Research into the nature and practical application of the concept of the seven rays is being conducted by a growing number of groups and individuals around the world, and it is inevitable that the educational implications of this research will become clearer during the course of the 21st century.
Summary of the Caduceic Rays:
Ray One
|
- expressed by a caduceic process vibrating to the note of Will; the way of the administrator, the leader. |
Ray Two
|
- expressed by a caduceic process resonating to the frequency of the note of Wisdom- Love; the way of the teacher. |
Ray Three |
- expressed by a caduceic process resonating to the frequency of the note of Intelligent Activity; the way of the creative thinker.
|
This third frequency is implicated in the generation of the following four: |
Ray Four |
- expressing the caduceic keynote of Beauty, Harmony, and its opposite: Conflict.
|
Ray Five |
- expressing as the capacity for factual Knowledge; the way of the Scientist.
|
Ray Six
|
- resonating to the keynote of Idealism, the note of devotion to a cause. |
Ray Seven |
- resonating to the note which demonstrates as the quality of Organisational Ability. |
The teacher who succeeds in freeing in himself/herself the capacity to demonstrate all of the enumerated seven rays - at will and according to the needs of those (s)he serves - is one who is completing the construction of the inner caduceus within the lower or personal self, and is thus one who can stand in some measure as a Hermes or Singing Messenger on the world Scale. The great exemplar of such a Teacher/Messenger is the Christ - the inner, World Teacher who is even now sounding the Soul note of the new education. Learning to resonate the caduceus-octave is the means whereby the educator of the new age will tune in to the frequencies not only of his/her own Soul, but indeed to the frequencies of the Christ and His Teaching Hierarchy.
