A comfortable book area – where children can look at books, listen to stories read by an adult or on tape.

A graphics area – to encourage mark making and early attempts at writing, with pencils, pens, crayons, and coloured pencils.  Fixing, gluing and cutting skills are also possible here.

Water and sand play - used indoors or outdoors.

 

Malleable materials – including play-dough, clay and cooking opportunities.

Role-play area – to explore different roles and relationships using costumes and props.

Imaginative play – using the doll’s house, garage with cars and wooden railway.

A creative area – where children can paint, use chalk and select various materials to cut, stick and paint and develop their own creative ideas.

Outdoor play – a safe and secure area where the children can observe their local environment and develop their fine and gross physical motor skills.  Activities include, three wheeled bikes, climbing frame and slide, balls, beanbags, tunnels etc.

 

During periods of fine weather we do our best to provide a range of equipment and carefully planned activities out of doors, which enable the children to move freely between indoor and outdoor, play as and when they wish.  These include sand, water, graphics area, books and topic based life experience area.

Small and large construction materials – including large plastic bricks, wooden bricks and construction kits including Mobile and Lego.

Music and movement – including singing, playing and listening to a range of musical instruments, and listening to and moving to music.

 

Mathematical and scientific equipment – including sorting and matching equipment games and puzzles.  A computer is also available to enable the children to explore technology first hand.
