First shown on BBC1 on 14/15 September 2003, Multistorey was the first story in the third series of the Waking the Dead the crime drama starring Trevor Eve, Sue Johnson, Holly Aird, Claire Goose and Wil Johnson.
Brendan Coyle plays Martin Corgan, witness to and survivor of the Whitewater Shooting Massacre seven years previously, in which his wife Emma was killed. We first meet Martin at a meeting of the Whitewater Survivors Group. Emotions are running high as the man convicted of the shootings, Carl MacKenzie, has been granted leave to appeal against his conviction.

Martin is called in to be reinterviewed. As one of the few witnesses to see Carl, although he was unable to pick him out in an identity parade, the Cold Case Squad realise he is a very 'important person' to them. Martin disagrees. He may be an 'important witness', he tells them, but "you couldn't give a shit about the person, so please don't pretend that you do". He retells his story. How, returning to their car parked in the multi-storey, Carl opens fire at them through the front windscreen. Martin ducks down in time, and is saved. His wife is shot and dies slowly besides him.

However, Boyd (Trevor Eve) is not happy. Certain aspects of Martin's account of what happened that tragic day do not add up, and, alone, he brings Martin back for further questioning.
