Born in Lambeth on the 11th April 1937, Jill was brought up in Kingston- Upon-Thames.Jill trained at the Italia Conti and began her theatrical career at the age of fifteen as a dancer in the chorus of a pantomine at the Grand Theatre, Halifax. She spent the next ten years singing and dancing her way through musicals and revues.In 1961, Jill's career turned towrds "straight" cating, and she spent the next ten years touring the countries repertory theatres including Leicester, Dundee, Nottingham and Glasgow Jill's many Television appearances include Z-CARS, SOFTLY SOFTLY, WITHIN THESE WALLS, DIXON OF DOCK GREEN, ARMCHAIR THEATRE and GENERAL HOSPITAL. Her first big break on the small screen came when she was cast as Mrs.Onedin in THE ONEDIN LINE. In 1980, Jill got her first lead role on television as Maggie Forbes in THE GENTLE TOUCH.The character was created by Terence Feely, Jill says of Maggie Forbes, "It's like living with another person, but I do like her". In 1985, after five series of THE GENTLE TOUCH, the character of Maggie Forbes was relocated to C.A.T.S.EYES, which ran for three series ('85-'87). In 1987, Jill toured with the National Production of George Bernard Shaw's CANDIDA, in which she played the title role. She also played pantomine for three years running ('85-'87), taking the part of principle boy twice.Jill now lives in L.A. with her two sons, Adam and Sean, and second husband Alfred Molina.
